On-Topic The politics of eating out & Chick-fil-A

He made it personal... he went back to attacking me personally... I was talking about other chains in this thread... and not about it being personal. I thought it went beyond being personal. And I had you on ignore chance... perhaps I should again. Cities all over the country, including in the South, are filing for bankruptcy. California however ranks as an A when it comes to internal financial auditing.

I guess it's just a "bash Giancarlo fest" now. Keep up your illogical attacks on California too...

You know what's lame? The lame right wing bullshit attacks on California.

just chill GC - if u could just 1x back off something or agree with someone or not be so insistent that ur right ........ it would go a long way

u have a blind spot for CA which doesn't allow u to see the oh so many problems that r there

bottom line is don't be so insistent on so many things - bend a little - it's good to bend :)

that's my take

PS - getting bashed isn't a terrible thing .......... I know first hand ;)

Re: The politics of eating out & Chick-fil-A

I just didn't like the city. I didn't like the weather. It's not my kind of city.

You have any other lies to post about me? It seems you hate me more then anything else. Probably can't stand I'm a left wing gay Latino and Latinos and other immigrants are taking over this country.

I don't hate you at all. I realize you don't know me, but I am the kind of person who would just ignore your postings if I disliked you. I love your passion, GC!! You merely need to stop and read what people post...absorb it. Then, speak your piece. I'm not anti-immigrant...in fact, I'm very liberal on immigration issues. I have good friends (illegal and legal) who are immigrants. And I'm cool with you being a left winger. I used to be. I now call myself Independent but I certainly lean to the left. But, I do not see issues as black and white like you and most other people. I see grey; that's how I roll....my opinion in politics is that the truth usually lies in between the two version we're spoon-fed by the 2 parties. If it makes you feel better (and remember this so you never call me a right-winger again) , I have voted in 7 presidential general elections and all my votes went to the Dem., and it will again this year.

Things I've written that you've ignored include: I love California, I really like Pasadena (truth is I've seen the entire west coast except San Diego and LA is the only place that didn't give 2 thumbs up (it's the dirtiest city in west) but it was okay...traffic bad, weather spectacular. I don't live in Atlanta, btw, and I don't even care for Atlanta. And yes, GA is miserable in the summer...did u see where I wrote we should be ranked #50 for summer weather? You have certainly overstated how bad this state's business sector is...forget rankings and current u/e...the reality is GA is the business envy of every other state in the region (except NC...they do quite well)

But. GC. in the dirty world of politics, it's okay to have strong views, but it's also important to understand where people are coming from who have opposing views. The best way to sway opinion is to understand that their opinions (at least in their own minds) is valid. Our US government is currently incapable of negotiating and compromising because both sides no longer think the opposiiton view is valid.

And remember, I don't hate you. I rather enjoy your contributions. If you prefer, though, I can close my eyes when I see one of your posts. I'm sorry that you feel I have animosity toward you.

Chancey, we had some good blowout back in '08 if your recall. Remember how tired I grew of "McCain is a hero" LOL. I even went to mocking his prose-style in some posts. Chance has some crazy ideas and this makes 2 elections where we clearly are on different paths...but my point is that he's a really good guy. He's kinda hardcore and abupt in that way that makes a mild-mannered southern vanilla boy like me blush. Chance will challenge you...and that's not all bad sometimes.

^Kudos to Sam for knowing some geo-economical info, specifically the "Research Triangle" that ranks #3 in high-tech jobs behind Silicon Valley and Boston.

Edit: Yeah Sam, us "yankees" can pull a fast one on you.

Chance is completely off here and he never uses sources to back up his arguments. And he's always against California. He's so wrong here... blind spot what a crock. I'm tired of this. Chance doesn't challenge. He only posts what I consider an unsupported mess.

nice response to my attempt to help - it won't happen again champ

keep the misinformation coming - it's really compelling stuff ;)

North Carolina has got it going on!!!! The research triangle is happening no doubt. Asheville seems to be booming, too. I know Charlotte is a finanacial hub, but I would think it might be struggling these days...I haven't followed it that closely.

My grandfather who died many ages ago taught me "keep your enemies close, and the Yankees even closer..." LOL...he knew what he was talking about. Everytime we hear a Yankee bitch about southern life, we point them to the nearest interstate and remind them that it does indeed go North."

I love Midwestern & Southern bois

Okay, I must be getting old. I misread that as "southern bios." Huh? Gather round, folks, and I'll tell you about good ole Andy Jackson whippin' the Redcoats.

Interestingly, I found out today that my college debate partner is moving from Palo Alto to Raleigh. A couple more Obama votes in NC can't hurt, right? I hope he can handle the culture shock, but then again he's from Boise, so he'll probably manage.

The point is that they were able to offer him a lot more money in NC -- not adjusted for cost of living, blah blah blah, but in raw terms. So NC must not be the primeval economic sludge that it's being taken for.

I'm so glad, Zingy, that Andy Jackson took that trip down the Mississippi River in 1814 cause in 2012 it would wreck on a sandbar with the Great Drought going on. My dad used to play that Horton vinyl album for me when I was little. Then, the Beatles came along and destroyed music (I kid).

I don't think you're friend will find Raleigh a huge culture shock...summer's won't be Palo Alto pleasant but that area is fairly sophisticated and progressive. Lots of Northeasterners. It's kinda like being in the south, but NOT really. And, you know, the salary thing is often times true. I've been with numerous national companies where my equal in Boston or SF or Chicago made the same or less than me and my cost of living is far less. Another reason people like it here. I recently talked to a man with our state's largest natural gas supplier. He had a def NY accent so I asked him what brought him here. He said he moved here in '07 and did the same job here as in NY for the same salary, and that he could buy 4x the house that he had in NY. As more firms are national now, many people just transfer to places where their dollars buy more.
