  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

The Queen is Dead. Long live the King.

Welp....she really was just a footnote to the balcony scene...I missed it because I didn't watch to the end.

And yet, probably one of the hardest working of all of them over the years. But one of the coldest and most calculating as well.

It's odd that the cameras for the balcony scene seem to have focussed almost exclusively on the King and the Prince of Wales. To the sides were Princess Anne and, I think, the Dukes of Gloucester and Kent.

As I said, it's a general trend; the monarchy is the king and the heir apparent: what in Spain they call "The King's House", as opposed to "The Royal Family". It's about the institution, not about the extended family, no matter the "jobs" related to the monarchy they may carry on daily.
The Dukes and the Princess are irrelevant to the present and the future of the monarchy, they are just a spawning anecdote to it.

I think there was a definite and purposeful focus on reinforcing Chuck as King and Wills and his family as the continuity of the regime, come what may.

Everyone else there is now surplus to needs.

(*8*) Thank you unload for bringing royal happenings to us in the colonies. Loved every moment of it. Especially when the band played "Men of Harlech". Have you ever heard Charolette Church's version?

Was the man on the white horse the same one who lead (organized) the Coronation Parade?

As for the discouraging posts above, I will not express my option :grrr: as I do not want to be banned from JUB.

Thanks again.

You're welcome!

I don't believe I've heard the Charlotte Church version, no. As for the man on the white (gray?) horse, he could well have been involved in the coronation. The narrator kept mentioning the years of experience of various people.

It seems that the Princess Royal managed to get kicked in the head by a horse last weekend and she's spent the last few days in hospital with concussion. She doesn't remember what happened and the horse isn't talking. She's now out of hospital, so all's well.

It’s completely beyond me how you can justify the expense of that.

And back on duty.

'Duties' being...

They're described in Wikipedia as follows:

"Anne performs official duties and engagements on behalf of the monarch. She is patron or president of over 300 organisations, including WISE, Riders for Health, and Carers Trust. Her work in charities centres on sports, sciences, people with disabilities, and health in developing countries. She has been associated with Save the Children for over fifty years and has visited a number of its projects."

I meant what she actually does, not where she sits and with what she is "associated".
