The Queen is Dead. Long live the King.

About bloody time! They should've dealt with this nonce years ago.

Once he is chucked out of his Royal home I hope he gets booted to the back of the Council housing waiting list behind all the illegal immigrants!

Now they just need to deal with Harry and his odious wife.

Andrew is going to be tucked away in the Sandringham estate.
Unfortunately it has to be a case of keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
It is logical. Charles is bankrolling his brother, providing him a home and giving him an allowance which will be his only means of support. By holding that over his head Charles will retain control of his behaviour.

Andrew, of course, continues to 'strenuously deny' all allegations against him. But, as has been seen again and again, he would't know the truth if it slapped him in the face and called him Mary!

BBC News

Prince Andrew has been stripped of his "prince" title and will leave his Windsor mansion, Royal Lodge, Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday.

About time. The guy's ineptitude and complete lack of self awareness is a complete embarrassment.
As Far as I am concerned, he should go live in the sewer...

Stripping him of any sort of Royal immunity/protection will make him more susceptible to prosecution.

Prosecution for what exactly? Being arrogant and thoroughly unpleasant is not a crime. Being a friend of Epstein, whilst ill-judged, is not a crime. Having sex with prostitutes is not a crime. Having sex with 17-year old girls, which he denies, is not a crime in the UK, but may be in certain other jurisdictions.

Andrew, of course, continues to 'strenuously deny' all allegations against him.

Legally I suppose he must forever be assumed innocent because he can never be proved guilty, having settled out of court. But reading between the lines, the official announcement clearly implies he's as guilty as hell.

These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him ... Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.

That sounds to me like a pretty clear guilty verdict.

Now they just need to deal with Harry and his odious wife.

Harry to Megan: Wake up doll! Fantastic news! Uncle Andy's well and truly drowning in shit now. The papers will be watching his every move from now on so with luck they'll lose interest in us!

There's a silver lining in this for the king. He wants to slim down the royal firm, and Harry and Andrew have helped him by throwing themselves off the ledge. Princess Anne has already done her bit by de-royalling her offspring.

The real winner in my view is Prince Edward. Remember him? No, nobody does. After years of being looked on as the family ninny he's ended up living a steady life, largely out of the public eye, just doing what he does, whatever that is.

P.S. The BBC news website got a bit carried away with the mixed metaphors today:

It's a ripping off the bandage moment, which the Palace will hope will finally draw a line under the endless oil slick of bad news stories about Andrew.[\QUOTE]

Obviously, the Palace is having a bit of a rough go with this...their hopes that he would give up using his titles and that that would be the end of the matter doesn't seem to have worked.

So the stripping of Prince will be about the last trick they have up their sleeve.

And of course his wife has never put a foot wrong either. Much beloved of her late Majesty

That's not entirely true. Back in the day she made unguarded remarks to an undercover reporter posing as a middle eastern sheikh.

It's a shame that the King cannot home him in one of his other estates. HMP Wormwood Scrubs for example.

Ah, I'd forgotten that faux pas. Still it fades into insignificance when you look at the recent omni shambles of the houses of York and Sussex

Something just occurred to me. It would be a larf if he changed his name by deed poll to Prince Andrew, although his bank statements would be addressed to "Mr P.A. Mountbatten-Windsor".

Alternatively he could, like most of us, use his father's real surname. That's Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg.

BBC News
The final cut is always the deepest
The government is "working to remove" Andrew Mountbatten Windsor's last honorary military title at the King’s request, the defence secretary has said.
