For a number of years, it seemed like something was off with the karmic energy in the world.

COVID-19 seems to have reawakened karma for those who don't believe in science and who spend their time believing social media conspiracies.

There's no shortage of unfortunate karmic happenings for those who didn't take their vaccines, who take veterinarian pharmaceuticals or go to rallies in support of fired or indicted politicians.

Anti-Vaccination Lawyer for Capitol Rioters Now on Ventilator With COVID-19 [Newsweek]
John Pierce, an anti-vaccination advocate and lawyer representing people arrested for allegedly participating in the January 6 Capitol riots, has contracted COVID-19 and is reportedly on a ventilator.

When Pierce failed to appear at a Wednesday court hearing for Capitol riot suspect Shane Jenkins, his colleague Ryan Marshall told the judge, "Mr. Pierce is in the hospital, we believe, with COVID-19, on a ventilator, non-responsive," The Independent reported.

Pierce has publicly made comments against the COVID-19 vaccine and mask mandates.

On August 17, Pierce tweeted, "The entire 82nd Airborne couldn't make me get an experimental government vaccine stuck in my arm."

Mr Pierce was also the attorney for Kyle Rittenhouse.

In spite of admonitions from leadership of the Southern Baptist Convention, church camps have proceeded this summer in the Southern US.

COVID-19 outbreaks hit some church camps, but total shut-downs were largely avoided [The Oklahoman]
COVID-19 affected multiple church summer camps this year, forcing leaders of one to cancel the first two weeks of youth summer sessions because of an outbreak among staff members.

New Life Ranch Camp experienced an outbreak before the camp's summer sessions were set to start in June, said Tom Graney, executive director of the camp. It started with three staff members testing positive for COVID, then "snowballed" to nine.

It didn't stop there, and nearly 25 staffers ultimately tested positive for COVID-19 and the first weeks of camp were canceled after leaders consulted with a state epidemiologist and local health officials, Graney said.

Sadly, one large church camp that hosted 30,000 people during the summer resulted in multiple outbreaks across multiple states when camp attendees returned home. It also killed a popular youth minister.

Falls Creek Guest Preacher Wade Morris Dies After Contracting COVID-19 [News9]
When he heard Morris had died, Braeden said, “I was very happy for him because, not only did he die doing what God called him to do—preaching at Falls Creek, that’s what God called him to do—but he’s with Jesus now.”

Rev Morris was only 51 years old.

When you rail against vaccines and claim that your chances of dying of COVID-19 are less than one percent....

Conservative talk show host Phil Valentine dies after battle with Covid-19, his employer says [CNN]
Phil Valentine, a Nashville-based conservative radio talk show host who had questioned whether it was necessary for all people to get Covid-19 vaccines, died on Saturday, his employer, WWTN Radio, announced on Twitter. Valentine was 61 years old.

"Please keep the Valentine family in your thoughts and prayers," the station said in the tweet.

His death comes more than a month after the host first announced he had been diagnosed with Covid-19. On his program, Valentine had repeatedly downplayed the importance of getting a vaccine against the virus, saying last December that he believed his personal odds of dying from Covid-19 were "probably way less than one percent.

I used to be kind, but my well of sympathy for willful idiocy has run dry.

I used to be kind, but my well of sympathy for willful idiocy has run dry.

Quoted for truth. But it has been replaced in me by impotent anger because of all the other people they have exposed and the medical staff they are exhausting because of their stupidity and arrogance.

I find it odd that anyone can claim to 'believe in science' and also believe in Karma.

But, anyway, for one to believe that people get what they deserve, one would have to accept the possibility that these people [below] are simply getting what's coming to them:

. . . . all the other people they have exposed and the medical staff they are exhausting . . . .

Do we really want to play this game?

Texas seems to be Karma Central at the moment. Anti-vaxxer, anti-masker, Republican city councilman... placed more importance on his "freedom" than he did on his children having a father...

A Texas GOP official’s covid-19 death went viral. Then came calls for vaccination — and bitter divides. [WaPo]
When H. Scott Apley died at 45 of covid-19, he became a face of vaccine refusal by the political right. A GoFundMe drive for his wife and baby son drew scorn as the Dickinson City Council member’s social media posts circulated.

“I wish I lived in the area!” the Houston-area member of the Texas Republican Party’s governing board wrote this spring about a “mask burning” party in Cincinnati. “You are an absolute enemy of a free people,” he once replied on Twitter to a doctor’s post celebrating the effectiveness of Pfizer’s shots against the coronavirus...

"Karma is a wise elder who has just served you tea laced with the same poison you have been spreading your whole life"

For a number of years, it seemed like something was off with the karmic energy in the world.

A number of years? At last count 2,021 at least.

I used to think I'd die before the beginning of the end, now I'm not so sure.

I've seen lots of tots in strollers today as well as the usual parade of grotesquely bloated abdomens. What are these people thinking???

Apparently Pierce, Morris, Valentine and the rest of them were not important enough to get the magic cure Trump and so many other loathsome politicians enjoyed.

I sincerely hope they suffered.

Hey all righties: if you liked mask and vaccine mandates, you'll love the lib's latest weapon: Afghan refugees! Time to spiffy up your guest bedrooms! They're a-comin' and they're after your Bibles!

Karma in this context is simply experiencing the consequences resulting from your own actions. Which they are.

I see this thread got moved from it's rightful home in the current events forum but we'll continue here in the new home.

Well, the Jews might have a different starting date, although that's probably more about fate and terrible luck than about karma. Karma is more about what you're putting into the world that ultimately works in a circle to eventually come back to you.

For example, a lot of us watched what happened with Merrick Garland's nomination to the Supreme Court and said, "How can they get away with this?".

Then RBG died before the election, and we said, "Why did this happen to someone who had been such an example for so many women?".

Then Amy Coney Barrett gets nominated to the Court. And many people said, "What is wrong in the world that this happened?".

Then a bunch maskless Republicans at Barrett's nomination celebration at the White House got COVID-19... including the President. COVID-19 eventually ran up a toll of at least 37 people in or around the White House during that time. And several attendees ended up in the hospital on ventilators.

When you look at all those gleeful Republicans at the celebration, you have to think that maybe karma was catching up with them.

And another...

He recently wrote on his Facebook page that, “Mandates and coercions DO NOT WORK especially when they come to us from a government that has repeatedly lied to the American People time and time again”.

South Carolina county Republican party leader dies from Covid-19 [NBC]
Pressley Stutts led a group loyal to former President Donald Trump in forcing out several local GOP officials who had opposed the state party chairman.

A tea party Republican who recently helped turn over the party leadership in South Carolina’s largest county has died from complications of Covid-19.

Pressley Stutts died Thursday, according to other party leaders and his family. The U.S. Navy veteran was 64.

Over the summer, Stutts led a group loyal to former President Donald Trump to force the resignation of several Greenville County Republican Party leaders after a failed bid to defeat state party chairman Drew McKissick.

Stutts said he was following Trump’s wishes to kick anyone who didn’t fully support the former president out of the Republican party.

I wish them all God Speed on their chosen journey. I hope they left feeling like they showed people like me what was what.

And in the "we were waiting for the vaccine to be approved" camp:

Spouse of Missouri congressional candidate, a Hartzler staffer, dies after getting COVID [Kansas City Star]
The husband of a Missouri congressional candidate and aide to Rep. Vicky Hartzler has died after being hospitalized with COVID-19.

Steve Walsh died Thursday morning. The death was announced by his wife, Sara Walsh, a Missouri state representative who is running in the Republican primary for the 4th Congressional District. The seat is being vacated by Hartzler, who is a candidate for U.S. Senate...

Walsh disclosed in early August that she and her husband had both contracted COVID-19 and that he was in the hospital. She told KRCG at the time the couple had chosen not to vaccinate and said she personally hadn’t gotten a shot because the vaccines lacked full FDA authorization. She also said she had concerns about risk factors.
