There are two teams, one Out on the field, and one In.

Each member of the team that's In comes Out and then he's In until the team that's Out gets him Out at which point he goes In.

Sometimes, you get people still In and Not Out.

When everbody has been both In and Out twice, including the Not Outs, the game ends.

What I dont understand is why they call these cricket matches "tests"? Why not exams?

Try as I might to understand The Rules of Cricket I could never get past "sticky wicket." I thought that sounded so inviting.

Isn't it true that some tests (if that's what they are called) can take several days to complete to crown a winner? I saw a score once and it was something like 349-23. A real nail-biter.

But even a draw after five days play isn't where the teams have scored the same number of runs, no that would be a tie and has only happened twice in test cricket. To win basically a team must be bowled out twice.

IIRC Australia played a Davis Cup tie angainst the USA on courts at the Boston Cricket Club a couple of years ago.

Oh and for all you non-belivers out there come December 26 (Boxing Day) in Melbourne close to 100,000 people are expected to fill the MCG to watch the first day of the test match.
