The stereotypical Gay Man

No :( Even though I bought a bunch of extra raffle tickets. And the suspense was almost like it was fucking scripted! The print I wanted was the last prize, and then the guy read FIVE FUCKING TICKETS before someone stepped forward to get it. FIVE. One of them was - I shit you not - the number next to the last of my tickets.

Immeasurable sadness, despair and tragedy from the blackest pit of oblivion, more or less...

I run into them regularly, being told later that those folks were (probably) "straight hipsters" or "sensitive new men" playing househusband taking little Tristan to the zoo (complete with organic cheerios as a snack) while mommy is in court. My ex had a friend who was an effete het; I have a family member who is also one.
Aren't those called Metrosexuals.

A "straight" mate once told me. All men are gay some just hide it better

^ Well Irish Billy...I hate to raise a stereotype, but I swear that I can't ever remember meeting a straight Irish guy. Seriously. lol.

This. The assumption that gay people need to prove straight people that we're "just like them" and "normal" implies that any deviation from heteronormativity is "abnormal" and so I find it inherently self-loathing and homophobic. We don't need to pretend to be straight for them to like us, we need to teach them to like us any way we chose to be.

Even More, we need to teach them to get over themselves and be comfortable with letting their own individual colors shine. Celebrate individuality and the uniqueness of the human spirit.

To cross the final hurdle we need to present the diversity within our community. I have absolutely no problem with some gay guys being very camp and theatrical but we need to also promote our 'other side' the side that is just like every straight guy but just simply has a different taste in who they find attractive. The problem is that this is never seen. Every gay guy on every TV show or movie i've ever been has been really camp. And I am NOT saying being camp / effeminate is a bad thing, it's just not how all of us are and whether you like it or not it just doesn't suit every line of work.

The Question is: Since When do we OWN the Major Media Corporations that broadcast their 'truth' as news? Fact is, we don't. You could create a hypothetical 99% "Hetero-Acceptable" parade of suit and tie Power Gays, and if the Major Media WANT to show only the "1 percent Boa/Spandex Queens" as representative, who's going to prevent them from doing so?

The problem lies not in "tailoring ourselves", for the Media, but in getting the Media to show the ENTIRE picture! They must be held "feet to the fire". That, or fund our own Major Media networks that get the job done better......Who's In?
