So this was posted in response to Magda Goebbels' post...underscoring the reality that Greeenland is a part of NATO. Without mentioning Article 5, the inference is clear.

I would say that it is time for the governments of ALL the NATO countries other than the US to issue a clear joint statement that the resources of Greeenland are the sovereign right of the people of Greenland
and not the prize for the broligarchy supporting Trump.

If this doesn't happen soon, the moment will again be lost and we will all have to sit through the incremental incursions on-line against Greenland and other independent states that Trump and MuskCo. have decided should belong to the US trillionaires.

I'm reminded of a story from Trump 2016. When the RNC flacks were talking to Trump about abortion, the consultants told Trump that abortion energized the evangelicals and that he should promise to get rid of Roe vs Wade, even though it wasn't possible. Trump responded, "Well, why not give them what they want on abortion?".

In doing so, he took away a campaign issue that Republicans ran on and he created a monster of an issue for the Democrats to run on for years.

He's falling into that same trap on the Cuba issue. Republicans used to hate communists and since the 1950s, they've been promising Cuban ex-pats that they could come here and that the Republicans would get rid of the Communists in Cuba.

If they invade Cuba, it will lead to a mass exodus from Cuba. Boat-building will become a big industry in Cuba. And Trump is used to dealing with the Cubans in Florida. What he doesn't understand is that Cuba is about 1/3 morenos, meztisos and mulatos, and south Florida is going to get a lot more Spanish-speaking dark-skinned people, which is going to cause big problems in the Cuban ex-pat community.

Since Congress will do nothing to stop Trump’s empire building and as Steven Millar said what country is going to stop them from taking Greenland the last line of resistance is the American voters. If it were the case that voters would immediately benefit from the new empire then I’d be pessimistic that they would move to stop this madness but since they are not going to benefit I think there is some hope. As Trump touts his new empire and consumers still facing high prices some may turn on him because of how he is destroying their image of their country. Americans have been brought up to believe their country is different, we wear the white hats not the black ones and our motives are pure, sure it’s not entirely accurate but it’s what Americans have been taught to believe. For those old enough to remember the 50s Superman tv show what Superman fought for was Truth, Justice and the American Way and most Americans identified with that and were proud to be an American as a result. So the question is will the American voter turn his back on that and embrace the Trump would view which be the world bully (except for China and Russia) or will they look around for that misplaced white hat.

One other thought when Trump says the US needs Greenland for national security reasons that must be music to Chinese ears as they need Taiwan for national security reasons too. What’s the point of building a navy if you risk having it bottled up and useless.

Dry feet get fast-tracked to citizenship. They have been reliable Republican votes since the 50s.

Miami just elected a Democratic mayor for the first time in 30 years. Republican control of Congress can hinge on a few seats in south Florida flipping back to Democrat.

If they were to murder balseros on the high seas, the Cuban community would turn on them. The stakes are too high.
