The US goes to War

^ This is very possibly what is happening. The US is taking some heavy hidden losses.

I have commented on the relative lack of actual information on the military wins being fed to the US households like they did with Iraq.

Instead, we have Hegseth spewing rhetoric and sticking his dick into the Scouts badge system. Why is the Department of Defense spouting off about citizenship badges for teens instead of figuring out their exit strategy.

And all of this leads me to fear the absolute worst.

That at some point, the US is actually going to use a nuclear bomb to try to force an end and 'total surrender'.

It's very frustrating. There's a pattern to news reporting in the middle east: they say one thing in Arabic, Hebrew, Farsi, Turkish and Urdu. Then, the English articles say something else, or it is biased to make the US look better.

I read an article this morning that translated said, "Israel will win the war; the US will lose". The premise of the article is that Israel controls US foreign policy. Some of it has an anti-Semitic tone but it also echoes things that I'm hearing from friends who voted for Trump; they are pissed off that Trump is believing Netayahu's lies and that the US is blowing billions of dollars per day on a war that no one supports.

Here's a translation of the conclusion of the article:
The real loser will be the United States. While the American public expects better health care, stronger education and a more stable economy, the US again finds itself drawn into another war in the middle east - this time on clearly on Israel’s behalf. For years, there has been debate in America over whether Israel exerts undue influence over US policy. The more conservative wing of the MAGA movement, which has long asked, “Is Israel effectively steering American policy?”, now believes their concerns have been confirmed.

What we are witnessing is Israel launching yet another war - a war that the United States is trapped in, and whose end remains uncertain. The arguments that are being used to justify the war sound familiar. They resemble the claims once made by Saddam Hussein in his conflict with Iran: that a dangerous state must be stopped before its missiles threaten distant nations. Or the claim repeated [by Israel] for nearly two decades: “If we waited just a few more weeks, Iran will have achieved nuclear capability.” These arguments have been heard many times in the past.

In the end, one can only say: Let us see what God will do.

Lindsey Graham is on someone's payroll to get wars started. He has been pushing for the war in Iran for months now...and now it turns out that he has comnspired with Israel to lead Trump by the nose
into this one.

I would like to know if it was the oiligarchs or the broligarchs (the nihilist Thiel and opportunist Musk) or just the MIC hoping to get more of that sweet, sweet money from Congress , because they migtht otherwise be slowing down.

And wherever you find the Israelis, the Sauds aren't far behind. Laughing all the way to the bank as they systematically destroy the US.

Might want to fill up your car now. Gas prices will likely surge in the next couple of weeks.

What has been the Trump administration’s response to the March 1 cancellation of war-risk insurance, and is it feasible?

Major insurance companies announced on March 1 that they will be withdrawing war risk cover for ships in the region. But the cancellation is temporary and there will be a repricing of the cover. Immediately Trump responded by saying that the U.S. would offer “political risk coverage” through a relatively unknown government agency called the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and providing naval escorts. The DFC usually gives loans to countries in the global south and hasn’t been in the business of marine insurance.

The potential liabilities accrued would be enormous if there are incidents like we saw in the Red Sea in 2023-24 with Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping. We’re talking about a shipping lane full of oil and gas tankers. The Red Sea is also a good lesson in the efficacy, or lack thereof of naval escorts. These were attempted in combatting piracy from 2008 onwards with limited effect.

Thanks US voters.

I am not sure why the rest of us...particularly oil producing countries were immediately gouged with price increases because of yet another one of your Republican wars of adventure to try to gin up your own economy.

And giving the Kremlin a huge gift.

This is not something Trump expected, he thought he could just blow shit up and except for Iran it would be no fuss no mess but instead his folly is effecting the entire planet. Even if he manages to provide insurance on the American dime the ships won’t start moving as getting shot at isn’t part of that job description. In his frustration boots on the ground may be in the future especially if they want to get the enriched nuclear fuel out of Iran.

Not expected? This would have been in the daily security briefing that a President receives and that Trump often skips because "it's too much detail" and because he often gets his "briefing" from right wing cable news and whatever person(s) have his cell phone number.

Let's be clear about something: it's not just that the US is underwriting shipping through Hormuz. The US is talking about sending US Navy vessels to escort ships through the strait. It's just target practice for Iran.

Iran's Guards challenges Trump to have US Navy escort oil tankers in Strait of Hormuz

A spokesperson for Iran’s Revolutionary Guards challenged U.S. President Donald Trump to deploy U.S. ‌naval vessels to escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state media reported on Friday.

The U.S. Navy could begin escorting oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz if necessary, Trump said on Tuesday. The conflict in the Middle East has halted shipping and energy exports through the vital Strait of Hormuz.
