Yes, it was an assumption on their part. But a fairly reasonable one. And now they're giving Britney awards for that mess of a video in return for the ratings and attention she brought to the event.

It's called sympathy. Plus, it's about time she got one, though I don't think Piece of Me is a great video. Of all the videos, I think "Toxic" should've been awarded a VMA, seriously.


P.S--Christina Aguilera killed it!!!! I loved the Genie in a Bottle remix and her new look.
 
If Britney wins then this award is worthless. They might as well give an award to my deaf grandfather!
 
I get it... I think they were going to give Britney an award for 'mother of the year" but then decided that she should get an award for "most sane person of the year"
 
I know Piece of Me wasnt even that great of a vid, though I cant really say there were much better videos than that nominated.

I'm glad Christina got rid of that fugly Back to Basics look. :)
