The Walking Dead [merged]

LMAO, I first saw gifs of it on Tumblr and died a little bit! I was like "this can't be fucking real?!?!" Then I saw the clip on Fuck Yeah Richonne: Here. She REALLY ships Richonne. :dead: And it seems like Norman Reedus does, too. And the Talking Dead host. I think I do, too. :dead:

Yvette convinced me to ship it.

OK, to cure my Walking Dead craving (like True Blood) I broke down and started reading the comics. I found those "compendium" comic books where they binded the comics together into a giant book. The first one is 1-48 and the second is 49-96. I got the first in ebook (my preference) mainly because its less bulk and easier to keep up with since the actual book itself is kind of big (like a nice Webster Dictionary) and the pages are not numbered so keep a bookmark handy and sort of an idea of where you are, I suggest stop reading in between books as oppose in the middle of one. With that said, let me say they are really great and fast moving for the most part. It has some things the tv show has but they appeared at different times and happened to different characters and my are they graphic. Michonne is a beast and so is Andrea, they are just as bad ass as Rick if not more. Carol is the simple bitch in the comics, I easily disliked her, she was just needy and I think they put those traits on Andrea in the tv series and that tore her character down. I am intrigued as to how they are going to work with the Gov next season and if they will put him with other nemesis to take on the prison. I'm already into the second book and I have had to slow myself down because book 3 isn't out, lol.

Just discovered this the other day. Upon a friends recommendation I finally watched it and I'm hooked! Have a lot of catching up to do, that's for sure. But better late than never!

I've heard that this season there is "a new threat" introduced. A theory/rumor I have heard is that the threat is starvation. This will lead the survivors to resort to cannibalism, or at least spend half the season contemplating it. Which is sorta clever, it would make the distinction between them and the walkers even more blurred. (actually, this was already done in the Walking Dead episode 2 video game by Telltale Games last year).

I don't know why, it isn't like it is a surprise they didn't get nominated.

Shows like True Blood, Sons of Anarchy, TWD will always get snubbed. But it doesn't matter, since the true winner is the ratings and what people are talking about.

Shows like Mad Men and 30 Rock, can win everything, but both are huge rating failure that don't draw the attention that TWD does.

The Walking Dead was the number one show in the 18-46 category for all of 2013, to me that is a huge and major accomplishment and the Emmys can suck it!

I liked the premiere although I couldn't help but laugh at the awful special effects from the store scene. The Walking Dead is turning into a reunion of The Wire. Oh and welcome to puberty Carl!

Starvation seems inevitable.

But if the instant of death is what triggers the turn from expired infectee to 'walker' then cannibalism means they'd be consuming zombie flesh.

Wouldn't that make them turn?

There has been nothing in the story that indicates eating zombie, or infected, meat makes them turn into full zombie. Everyone is already infected dead or alive, so it probably makes no difference. But freshly killed human no doubt is more appetizing than one that has already been a walker. But FYI the Walking Dead comic had a group a people called "the Hunters" who were cannibals.

One common theme in S04E01 was food: the pigs, gardening, and the starving woman. With a new apparent mysterious disease killing the pigs, it is likely to threaten their other food sources too. Food is about to become much more scarce for them. And I think the starving woman (and her dead husband) were part of the Hunters. She was hungry for Rick as much as her walker husband was.

That's because in season two, AMC cut TWD budget to give it to Mad Men.

Poor special effects or not it's still one of the best shows out there but Rick's intenseness needs to be dialled down a wee bit.
