The XL1

The XL1 was all about fuel economy and in the USA the fuel champ is the Toyota Camry Hybrid.

 
Interesting--although not totally surprising--that according to this video they went hybrid-only.

One thing I wonder about is how well these will age vs. a recent all gasoline Camry. As I mentioned before, I've heard rumbles from at least one mechanic on YouTube talking about how expensive these cars could become when they get old and electrio parts start going bye-bye. Then, again, that's probably the truth of any car today. The era of 20 years, half a million miles is probably over.

Very interesting that you mentioned the lifespan of these vehicles. There are online stories of car shoppers being advised by their auto insurers what vehicles are "acceptable", otherwise start shopping for another car insurance company! You are correct that YouTube mechanics are revealing the hidden costs of long-term EV ownership and people are being advised to purchase extended warranties - the future ain't looking cheap!
