Spot on. There were some good ideas. Camping out (which isn't a Constitutional right) didn't accomplish much to that end. The directionless OWS crowd is being co-opted by radicals who will ultimately destroy them from within. I'd be looking for them to start becoming more disruptive and violent this summer.

Right. Because sitting around in non-violent protest doesn't work. All those uppity negroes sitting at the counters at Woolworth's accomplished nothing. Gandhi's sit-ins were a complete waste of that diaper-wearing wimp's time. That lazy bitch Rosa Parks would have gotten her point across better by starting a riot instead of sitting down.

The gentleman featured in the video linked in the opening post indicated that the website associated with his movement is:

www.UnitedOccupyMovement.org - Home

Does anyone know if this is an official website for “Occupy Wall Street?”

The difference is in where they sat down. If Occupy Wall Street could get enough protestors to do sit-ins in every bank in New York, keeping all the banks from doing business, they might get noticed.

The problem there, though, as King told people, is that you don't want to interfere with the customers who might be on your side. So my suggestion is that the get caravans to hit Washington, D.C. -- and do their sit-ins at the lobbying offices for those giant corporations, to keep THEM from doing any business.

They don't claim to be, that I can see on the site. I've been haunting the actual OWS site and communicating with some folks there off and on, and I haven't seen any mention of it.

United Occupy Movement is a D.C. group, OWS is New York.

My conclusion is there's no connection. But just for fun, I emailed OWS and asked.

Except all the movements associated with those groups and individuals had a direction and goals. OWS prides itself on not having any.

Sounds exactly like the Republican Party. Some robbers, some rapists, a good number of dopers, mental defectives, and generally violent people with a smattering of almost normals. And not ALL of the GOP are anti-Semitic, either.

It certainly sounds like Ron Paul's movement. His newsletters contained content that is racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic. Somehow, however, that escapes the concern of those so concerned about anti-Semitic fringe characters who happen to show up at some OWS rallies. TNR Exclusive: More Selections From Ron Paul

This is exactly the type of argument a kid makes. Johnny gets caught acting up and tells mommy and daddy that Billy does it too. There are 55 responses to this thread. You know what's missing? Somebody acting like an adult and saying that these OWS people are reprehensible for their comments. I mean for heaven's sake we have a member of the Los Angeles School System ranting about the Zionists and Jew bankers. Are you not concerned that someone so hateful may be actually teaching children this kind of hate? Or is it more important that you support this OWS movement at any cost?

Would it be so hard for you to admit that these people are reprobates and need to be purged from OWS? Or is it more important that you make what you consider political points? Are you really willing to compromise your integrity and engage in hypocrisy for the sake of these hateful people?

No one is suggesting that they aren't reprobates. Anytime anyone gets up and makes comments like they have they should be immediately condemned. If they post unauthorized rants on OWS' facebook page, those rants should be removed.

I did not weight in on this thread until you made this comment:

Since there are no requirements for membership, no hierarchy to discipline or remove hate mongers like this, how can you make any sort of a claim as to what the organization is actually about. We can blindly accept what the group claims their purpose to be, or judge them by their actions, as in this case.

I wasn't excusing the anti-Semites who ranted at OWS rallies. I was pointing out the double-standard you employed by saying OWS should judged based on the actions of these fringe people, yet excusing Ron Paul and his libertarian movement for permitting racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic articles to be published in his eponymous newsletter. Would it be so hard for you to criticize Ron Paul for permitting the hateful speech to be published under his name and not purging the authors of these pieces from his organization.

I'm sorry, I tried to find your previous comments in which you acted like an adult and both admitted and condemned the tea party movement as racist to its core based on the activities of some of the rally attendees but I was unsuccessful. Would you mind linking to them? It will help bolster your argument. Thanks in advance!

There we go, we're in agreement. I don't agree with anything hateful that was said in Paul's newsletter and he repudiated it as well. I don't know if he fired the author or not, but he should if he didn't. So we agree there too!
