This commercial offends me and makes me cringe. Should it?

Before I voice my opinion to Bounce, am I right to be offended by this? Would they get away with using a stereotypical slave in a similar way to sell their product? Not bloody likely!

I don't really see it as that offensive, but that's just my opinion.

what is it that offends you in the video ?

I thought it was funny. Do all gay look like that? LOL

I'd answer your question but I wouldn't want to offend you. No, it should not offend but you seem to be easily offended. I'm only offended because of the contradiction. The apparel does not correspond with his personality. :D

That is what i noticed too.

I don't see what's offensive about it. I thought it's funny along the line of Will and Grace, Modern Family and Saturday Night Live sketches.

I guess I'm just too old or too stupid to know the rules about when stereotypes should offend me and when they should make me laugh.

Lighten up buddy. Stereotypes are funny because they are often the TRUTH. How do you think we get stereotypes to begin with? Because....that's just the way that a MAJORITY of a particular group act. There are exceptions, but stereotypes form in the minds of others based on how they have reacted with a member of a certain "group" of humans. It's the truth.

I'm willing to give Procter & Gamble a break.

They're gay friendly and have taken a lot of grief about it. So, while I don't think it's a very good commercial, it doesn't bother me.

The question is

did they intend for it to offend or did they just think it was funny?

Who did they think would find it funny, adolescent boys?

Okay, so then my next question is why?

To my knowledge, adolescent boys don't buy a lot of dryer sheets and never will.

Love the kitty video oakpope.

None of these are offensive IMO and the OP really needs to step away from the computer. Seriously.

It doesn't offend me but it does make me cringe. What is unfortunate is that they are obviously trying to portray a gay person. The only way to do that is to show some one like the gentleman in the add, otherwise you wouldn't know they were gay. I wish there were a different way to do that but there probably isn't. I guess they could have two macho guys with there arms around each other talking about their laundry but being that direct would offend some one else.

I know plenty of white-fluffy-dog-owning-campers just like that guy, and they wouldn't be the least bit offended by the ad.

No, I don't think you should be offended by this commercial. I don't find it offensive at all and, to be honest, I don't understand why someone would.

I thought the advertisement in the OP was great, gave me a giggle and as the owner of 3 long haired white cats, I instantly bitched that we don't have bounce dryer bars in Australia.

The other commercials in the thread are fun, I loved the Renault one.
