From what I've read, most HIV transition is from UNPROTECTED ANAL sex. If you used a condom during anal sex, chances are you're fine. Even people who have unprotected anal sex with HIV positive people sometimes are safe but I would never recommend that.
If you really feel stressed about it, I would pay the money to get a more advanced HIV test. I think there are tests that will give you a direct result without having to wait the extra 3-6 months. I think only the free clinics use that 3-6 month rule.
Chances are you're fine. Just get tested, let us know what happens and take it as a lesson learned.
