  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

those straight-acting gay guys ...

No, no. I just think that it's impossible for you to understand two things:
1. Society has labels. Everyone falls under one. Can't fight, can't help it.
2. I merely stated that, as a whole, the gay 'label' brings connotations that do not fit (such as me liking Madonna).

If you can't chat in a civilized manner, without personal attacks, I don't see how you are any better.
Additionally, those that are 'proving them wrong' are proving them 'right' with their
purses, perfume, 'style', makeup, dressing in drag, and all of that rubbish. I'll say I'm attracted to men, not femme shit. If I wanted a pussy I'd find a woman.
Now, I'm quite through chatting with you, unless you can speak to me like an adult (which we both are).

Wow, do you know what an bigoted asshole you sound like. I never understood this I have to be so manly thinking by some gays and that being thought of as effeminate is so horrible. In a few ways I am stereotypically gay but mostly I'm not, however I never thought it that important to be macho in certain ways.

But then I always had a deep respect for effeminate gays, I may not be like or be attracted to many of them, however as a closeted boy in high school seeing the fems being able to preserver through some of the stupid and petty shit people put them though just because stereotypically gay made me know I would be all right. Just because I like guys doesn't mean the world is ending or my life will be horrible, it just means I'm different than most men in one way and I'm OK with that.

Sorry for rambling but I find it very sad some gay/bi/curious guys have to hate or disparage fem gays. You don't have to be like them or be attracted to them, but remember this, it is the gays that are not afraid of being called and being thought of as fags that are getting gay men and women more accepted. Not the ones that who are so afraid of being gay they have to call fem guys pussies in order to make themselves feel better about the fact that they are gay or bi.

But holy fuck dude. The gay community as whole is trying to make society less judgemental. But it seems to me, a shitload of gay people themselves can't even practice what they preach.

Why because they defend themselves? Because some of them will not just plainly roll over for the marginalization and sterilization that 'straight acting' gays who docile cater to heterosexist attack them with? There are sexual politics involved in the acceptance of gay people. And one of the sad realities is that no matter how 'straight acting' a person is, from the minute they proclaim themselves to be gay everyone WILL find something about them that is inherently gay.

'Straight Acting' is a derogatory term and even you yourself are making a blatant line between what is appropriate way of being as opposed to not based on heterosexual definitions. Which is why I set the example of David Beckham? He is a straight man. As far as we know anyways because he has not proclaimed himself otherwise. There is no issue in regards to his behaviour. People even salivate over him. And what's the difference between him and 'Jack McFarland' or you average limp wristed queer? That he puts his penis into a vagina?

Oscar Wilde when arrested for committing acts of homosexuality which were serious enough a crime to end up imprisoned and having to serve hard labour, showed more strength of character and will and it's because of dandy's like Oscar Wilde that 'straight acting' gays can indulge in their little un-hetero like behaviour.

I'm afraid I don't understand, either.
So, I'm to act out and showboat that I'm gay? I'll get on that.

It's not those 'femmes' that are getting gays more accepted. Any friend I have met that is gay is accepted simply because we have different cohorts (I've met several gay guys, but no queens). My parents surely are not as accepting, because it's a different era.

It's been like this historically. There is always a group that is picked on that parents hate but kids love.
Acceptance for homosexuality is not coming from queenies acting out, but from awareness and understanding that we (mostly) don't choose to be gay.
I think a lot of the people are my age are a hell of a lot less hateful than the baby-boomers.
Of course you will now find some article with a violent kid my age that committed some hate crime to disprove me. We all know that because one person is one way, so are the rest.

Anyway, I'm done wasting time on this thread.
As I said, I don't label myself "straight-acting" but "gay" (in the societal view) does not fit me either.
Oh, and we should probably discuss about how the gay community hates bi-sexuals as well as the heterosexual community.

Oh, and I don't know why you're worked up about the fact that some gays don't want to be queens (or associated with them).

Has anyone said you have to be a queen, it's about how in order to prove what a queen your not you have to demean and insult those that are. The fact that fell the need to insinuate their pussies just because of who they are makes it seen that you don't even have a basic level of respect of them.

The thing I notice the most is that the guys insisting that they're "straight acting" are the ones who can't even call themselves "gay" under their names. The very word scares them.

They also seem to be the ones harping down on visibly gay men and blaming them for their inability to come out.

I came out and I'm openly gay and I dont' care if people think "madonna" when they hear the word "gay" since all you have to do is talk to me for a minute to see that I'm just a regular guy. Take all your preconceived notions that you want - if you're out, people will see that you're just a regular guy and not a big purse-carrying, makeup-wearing, disco-dancing friend of Dorothy.

Act? What act? I am not straight acting, but at the sametime I am not gay acting whatever that is I am just me I can go from an Italian Suit to blue jean and a tee-shirt I like the finer things in life but also hamburgers and beer. I love all music well that not true there one I don't like... Hate country I would rather listen to Polka Music then that. Love to camp and Love Museums I can be shy but then all of sudden I can be loud and in your face in a good This is what I am and this is what I will always be. So if you can't deal with then my dear eat my shorts......have a nice day.

I'm so straight acting, my boy-friend wants me to marry his sister "so he can get closer to me"!:p

Um.. why is it that "gay" doesn't fit you? because you don't have a purse? You're really sad.

Why? What does that have to do with anything?

Who said you have to be a "queen" or you have to associate with "queens?"

I just dont' understand the hostility towards gay men that some gay men have.

Homophobia is a huge problem in the gay community.. it's pretty sad.
