To No A Veil

Miko: So you would be quite happy to let a person covered completely from head to toe - man or woman, as you would not be able to guess - teach your children, come into your home to fix the boiler, pilot the plane that takes you on holiday, become President of your country, play for whatever sporting team you support, respect your atheism...?

But don't set your recorder just yet!!! According to the London "Times" today, Khadija Ravat - a lecturer in Islamic studies - "did not know that (her speech) would be aired in competition with the traditional royal address."

Under the heading:"Veiled threat to pull out of speech.", the paper says Khadija Ravat "did not realise she would be going head-to-head with the Queen."

Rumours that Khadija is going to appear in government sponsored advertisements advising people to "Wrap up to keep warm this Christmas." are probably untrue.;)

Just to wrap this story up:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-2507650,00.html

Mrs Ravat has evidently decided to face facts in her face-off with the queen, as she has done an about-face, and is no longer prepared to face the C4 cameras on christmas day.:=D:

She must be red-faced with embarrassment under her veil, and seeking a face-saving excuse for her loss of face. Perhaps she should go face-to-face with the man/imam - for be sure there is one in the background, hiding behind her veil - who put her up for this.

On the face of it, it has all been to no avail...

I almost feel like this deserves a topic all its own...

How to eat Spaghetti while wearing a Burkha...

You are at home and there is a knock on the front door. When you open the door, there is a person, completely covered from head to toe, with only the eyes visable.

Your first thoughts?

You are a passport control officer at JUB international airport, when a person covered from head to toe, refuses to unveil his/her face for religious reasons.

What do you do?

You are looking for people to work in your convenience store, and one of the candidates is covered from head to toe.

Do you give this person a job?

You are a member of the armed forces in Iraq, when you are approached by a person covered from head to toe...

Your first reaction?

There is always a mistrust of anyone in a mask (and I consider anything covering your facial features to be a mask).
I don't give out candy on Halloween anymore either. Home invasions are one of the fastest rising crimes in my community. Two Halloweens ago I opened the door and there were 5 or six guys with their faces covered and they were taller than me (I'm 6'2).
When I tended bar Halloween was my scariest holiday when customers came in not only masked but with costumes that could easily conceal some serious weapons.
If I'm expected to trust anyone, I want to see their face.

Come on JUBbers; this is a serious, topical and important issue.

Here in the UK we have extremist British Muslims who want this country to become an Islamic state. They preach hatred of all who are not Muslims. They refuse to accept any rule of law other than Sharia. They hate gays. They ensure women remain subservient to men.

And they do all this whilst protesting that God loves everyone.

Stop looking at the size of your/someone else's cock, and get real...

this thread is one of the bigest loads of shit i have ever read on jub

Has anybody considered that this woman is educated enough and compassionate enough to teach should therefore be able to do the job she has chosen without discrimination?
How many people complain that a guy/girl dressed as a big yellow bird teaches children on Sesame Street?
Surely exposing young children, who dont already have the preconceived notions (born of fear) that adults have, to cultural diversity, can only lead to a more tolerant future.

i sense allot of tension in this thread
it's an interesting discussion though..
i'm afraid i don't.. i've never.. really understood what the fuzz is about..
allot of agression.. simply because of what one wears?
agression... for a piece of cloth?
and i think to myself... are they really that shallow?
it's like looking at some sort of sci-fi horror movie late at night..
zombies fill the screen..
but this isn't some movie..
no.. this is real life.. i'm afraid...
Wake Up!!!!
you're not zombies..
your intellect should have at least some say in your actions..
keh.. agression over a piece of cloth... ](*,) hellow?!

What about deaf people who lip read?
Isn't covering your face with anything doing them a disservice?
I know they're a minority, but their needs must be considered since they don't have a choice.
