Top cd's of 2008

Kate Nash--Made of Bricks

The Nicest Thing is one of the most heartbreaking songs

Sadly, I haven't been keeping up with newer music recently, but I really like Heretic Pride by The Mountain Goats and Get Awkward by Be Your Own Pet. I think the best so far for myself is Saturdays = Youth by M83. Amazing.

^Ah yes, Be Your Own Pet.

I'll add The Ting Tings We Are Nothing.

And I really love MGMT. I didn't give it much of a chance when I got it, but I really love it now.

The Midnight Organ Fight by the Frightened Rabbit has been on high rotation for months in my iPod. A fucking brilliant break up album.

But I am still giving the best album of 2008 to For Emma, Forever Ago by Bon Iver. I honestly do not see any artist beating his debut this year...it's that chilling.

For Emma, Forever Ago was released last year... it was just released through a major company this year, so i don't really count it.

but, yeah, Frightened Rabbit's have gotten a lot of my attention since i found out about them a few months ago.

i don't think anything's going to top the new Avett Brother album if they get it out this year.

another vote for radiohead - in rainbows

mgmt - oracular spectacular

offspring - rise and fall, rage and grace

weezer - red album

foo fighters - echoes, silence patience grace

I did not realize Jagjagiwur was a major record label. Plus no critics talked about Iver's album last year much less made it on any lists. But this year the critics have all raved about it and according t0 the metacritic's score so far for 2008, he is holding tight in the top 3.

Along with a lot of you I'll pick Jason Mraz and as of late an album that has gotten into my Top CD's for the year is Uh Huh Her's "Common Reaction".....amazingly great tunes...Leisha Hailey from The L Word's group.

shelby lynne - just a little loving
b52s - funplex
v/a - i'm not there soundtrack (we get things late in oz)
life without buildings - live at the annandale
totem - with boots

Mates Of State - Re-Arrange Us

this album is so great. i feel like they've finally lived up to their full potential, which is awesome because i like their stuff, but i never loved it or got too into it, but this one is just perfect. i highly suggest it.

and also You & Me by The Walkmen has really grown on me.

and Mermaids by Slow Runner!
