First of all, thanks. The paper is due tomorrow, and your inputs are greatly appreciated. In fact, I am going to quote you as counter arguments to my thesis.

Uh, yes you are. Your original statement is "tops are men, bottoms are women," followed by the assertion that men who like to get fucked are women inside - which is to say that they possess a female (or at least feminine) internalized gender identity. Your entire argument is based on the idea that sexual role is a proxy for gender. And it's not done very well.

Thanks for catching that emotion thing. I should say desire instead of emotion. They don't have the same desire as we do.

I could say the same for people who don't love chocolate and pecans, but I don't go around questioning their humanity.

All other sex acts are unimportant. It all comes down to penetration.

See, this is the sort of thing that is going to blow even more blatant holes in your argument than you already have. You can't just write off all sex that doesn't fit your model as unimportant. You have to know why it's unimportant - and it can't be "because they don't involve penetration," not only because some of them do involve penetration, but also because they still represent articulations of desire and methods of achieving orgasm that fall outside of your current penetration/gender model.

With the ideas you've presented here, I don't think your paper stands much chance of a passing grade. Or even of getting a grade.

I won't lie, I do have some symbolic hang ups with the whole top/bottom thing. Even though I've done both, there is part of me that thinks bottoming is a bit "lessening." You're allowing another man ultimate dominance over you and are being his subordinate. Almost like you're surrendering and letting him control (men often fight and kill each other for control) and put his TAG on you.

I know this is way late, but I'm a total bottom and have zero interest in topping.
For me, to some degree, you are correct. I get off on being dominated, surrendering myself, not being in control to a man.

^I read this thread and it was hilarious. It's filled w/ the stereotype that the bottom is the bitch and the top person is the stud. Apparently some people also think that the woman is submissive (bottom) and the man is dominate (top) and that the whole point of hetero sex is for the male to dominate the female. Just saying if that's what we're basing it on, then I'm the top. Even then, I'm only joking, Jason and I are equals--most of the time.
