Triple G Appreciation thread

(*8*) Good morning, John, RM, Rob, Boris

Took a shower at 8AM and the water was barely tolerable. We were 121F yesterday and probably will be so again today.

I will now spend the rest of the morning watching the Open.

(*8*) Good afternoon all.

After a month+ with daily temperatures of 120+, yesterday we hit only 117F. Time to break out the jumpers

Yesterday I woke up very wobbly and having a hard time walking. Made it to church and back. Spent the rest of the day in bed. Today I am numb all over and having trouble standing. I see the doctor this afternoon. Hope he can figure out what is wrong. Going back to bed now.

Hope I will be stable enough to go shopping after the doctor's appointment

Good afternoon, Gary. (*8*) I hope the doctor finds nothing seriously wrong with you. I have my fingers crossed for you. (*8*)

I’m okay, and as busy as ever these days. Yesterday the temperature only reached 66F!!

Good Wednesday morning, Gary! (*8*)

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that you're having balancing and walking issues again. Hope your doctor was able to do something for you to make you feel better and make your body work for you better.

I hope you're tolerating the heat OK. That's still too hot, though maybe temps are going in the direction of only the normal summer desert heat.

(*8*) Good afternoon, Rob, John, RM, Andrew

Finally, after 5 weeks of 120F+ the temperature has dropped to only 106F. Clouds have rolled in and there is a little drizzle. BUT, the a/c has failed. :help: It is 84 in the house. I have a large window a/c in the stereo room and a big fan to blow the cool air into the living room. From there it is picked up by the central a/c fan (which is working) and sent to the other rooms.

Tried to call the a/c repair, but my phone line is not working right. It echoes and the other party cannot make sense of what I am saying. A friend has texted the repairman. Hope to hear from him soon. Also, having trouble with the alarm system.

For some reason I am having trouble connecting to some webpages in the morning, JUB included. All is well this afternoon.

I am very tired all the time and do not feel like posting much. Thank you all for keeping in touch with me.

Good Sunday afternoon, Gary! (*8*)

Wow, you're having trouble with everything! It's good that that it's cooled down to normal oppressive desert heat, but losing AC? I think I'd jump in my car and keep driving until I hit cooler weather!

I wouldn't be surprised if the heat is sapping all your energy. I'm down here in Florida, and the heat here makes me feel like not doing anything.

"the heat here makes me feel like not doing anything."

Or, as my doctor said, "You're old and it is hot". 909F here at the computer.

(*8*)

^ Correction, it was not 909F at the computer. More like 90.

The a/c repair man arrived just after noon. He was in his early 20s and cute. :luv: After trouble shooting the system, he turned it on., and as the Fifth Element would say, "Big bada boom". The compressor blew up with great bang. It will be a week or two until a new unit can be had and installed as the 120 heat continues. It may be under warranty.

In the meantime, the 18,000 btu window a/c in the stereo room is working well and with a high-speed fan blowing the cool air into the rest of the house, things are staying around 90. Except the library where the computer is, which is at the opposet end of my long house where it is 98F right now and rising. I will not be posting much in the coming days.

Good evening, Gary. (*8*)  I hope it didn’t cause any damage when the a/c blew up! I’m sorry you are having to wait up to two weeks for a new compressor. Let’s hope it will work well when it gets installed, and that you can once more be nice and cool in your home. I have my fingers crossed for you.

In the meantime I hope you’ll drink lots of water to keep hydrated, and I fully understand that you won’t be on here much until your a/c is back in full working order.

](*,) Now my alarm system has failed. I hope winter gets here soon.

Good evening, Gary. (*8*) I’m sorry your alarm system has failed, and I hope you can quickly get it repaired along with the a/c.

I’m okay this evening and relaxing before going to bed after what has been a day of more torrential rain.

Hi Gary how's the weather?
HOT

I have been offered 4 repair possibilities. ranging from $1500 to $4500. 1500 for a shady under the table cash only used unit, 4500 for a new one.

Trying to decide

Now it is too hot in this room. Bye for now

(*8*) Good evening. My a/c is scheduled to be fixed next Tuesday. The repair guy just placed a portable a/c unit in my bedroom to tide me over, at no charge. I have never heard of any other company doing that. After 4 nights sleeping in a chair my hips and back are hurting. The room with the computer still has no cooling so I will not linger any longer in here. It hit only 113 today.

I'm going with the new unit.

Good Saturday morning, Gary! (*8*)

I'm sorry you're suffering with your AC issues. It was really nice of that repair guy to give you the portable AC unit in your bedroom so you can sleep. I have one of those, and I have to put blankets on my bed when I use it, since it makes it so cold, even though outside the temp is in the low 80s with ungodly humidity. Hopefully the new unit will arrive on Tuesday, and keep you cool for the rest of the summer, and for many summers to come.
