Triple G Appreciation thread

Good Saturday morning,Gary! (*8*)

You were into boat racing? Wow, you've had a whole life that I know nothing about! I'm sorry about your pain and bursitis, but glad you're better. Like they say, getting old isn't for sissies. I didn't know about your amputation. I hope the rebuilding they did helps.

I'm sorry that your summer weather is on the way. Actually, it just got hotter than usual for May here, with a high of 94 yesterday, and the same expected today. After a couple of days down to the upper 80s to about 90, it's supposed to be right back up to the mid 90s by midweek. We're supposed to have chances of thunderstorms for the next few days, but I'll have to see. It's actually getting a little too dry.

Good Friday morning, Gary! (*8*)

I hope everything is going well for you. I hope your summer heat hasn't arrived yet. The heat here has been brutal, with highs in the mid and upper 90s all week, with no break in sight. May is a bit early for this. They keep forecasting thunderstorms, but it remains stubbornly dry here.

(*8*) Good afternoon, John, RM, Rob,

I'm still here. Just not feeling that great. Mostly just wanting to sleep most of the time.

Our highs are 105F, which I used to considered only warm, but now that feels HOT. 'The left arm is every sore with the pain med not working very well.

I should be replying to your posts, but I just would rather sleep.

The cleaning lady was here yesterday, and the house is sparking clean. Next weekend will see many vacationing people here kicking up lots of dust as they race their dirt bikes behind my house. included are my cleaning ladies' brother who lives with their parent who live a block behind me.

Paying bills now and then will nap.

Here is an interesting loco I found on line.

Hi, Gary. (*8*) I hope you will feel better soon, and not be so sleepy, and that your left arm will not be so painful.

I’m okay, but later today we have about two inches of rain forecast! It’s not supposed to be as bad as that in May.

That’s a great steam locomotive. A narrow gauge 0-10-0. Thank you for pothe picture of it.

Good Wednesday morning, Gary! (*8*)

It's OK if you don't feel like posting here all the time, just come on here once in a while to let us know you haven't melted in all that heat.

Hmm, I'm not sure racing dirt bikes in 105 degree weather would be something I'd want to do. Your cleaning lady wipes your house clean, then her brother kicks up the dust. Sounds like a rather convenient arrangement for them.

I'm sorry you're having pain issues with your arm. Hope your AC works fine, and you can stay indoors in all that heat.

That's a nice locomotive you posted. I remember riding a bike path through woods outside of Tampa once, coming across a place where it was obvious that a narrow-gauge railroad existed at one time. There was no signage, nothing indicating awareness that something significant happened there or anything. I don't know what it was, maybe a logging railroad, a former tourist attraction, or maybe limestone mining, or what?

(*8*) God afternoon, John, RM, Rob

Yesterday my partner in worship folder making and I were in bad shape. Neither of us could stand for long and were dizzy. As soon as we finished, he headed to Urgent Care, and I headed home to fall into bed, not getting up until 4PM. Today I slept until 11AM.
The pain in the left arm has eased.

John, it looks like many storms are headed your way this year. Be sure to hang onto your hat.

On the plus side, the repair guy found the blockage in the irrigation pipe and placed the palm tree debris on the burning pile.

When visiting an old gold town in Colorado (Cripple Creek), I drove down the old railway grade which had been converted to a one-way road out of town.

At this time the A/C is working very well. The highs remain in the 90s.

Happy Fri-yay eve.

Good Sunday morning, Gary! (*8*)

I hope you're doing OK, and not experiencing any of that dizziness. It's too bad your folder making partner had those issues. In the old days the alcohol fumes from the mimeograph machine might have explained it.

I'm glad you're keeping cool in your AC, and your highs are still only in the 90s.

Have a good pew duty day!

(*8*) Good evening, Rob, RM, John

First, ROB, I know you do not visit your thread often, but check it out for a BIG story. You may like it too, RM.

Thanks for the Memorial Day greetings, RM, same right back to you.

John, we are now into the low 100s, and the A/C is doing its job well.

The duplicator we use is just a big, computerized mimeograph that uses soy-based ink, but no alcohol.

I am not doing well. Very dizzy and want to sleep all the time and do not feel like posting. I see the doctor June 5th.

Hope everyone is feeling well and ready for a good summer.

So sorry you're feeling unwell, Gary. 🙁 You get your rest and I'll be praying for you.

Good Wednesday morning, Gary! (*8*)

Well, believe it or not, the weather here might be giving your desert heat a run for the money. Yesterday the temperature hit 99 degrees at Palm Beach International Airport, which is the highest I've ever seen it here, with a heat index of 107. It's hit 99 before three or four times in the 66 years I've been here, but never exceeded it. But if the current weather pattern persists, I'm afraid this might be the year it gets hotter than that. It's probably connected somehow to a heat dome supposedly over Mexico and Central America.

I'm sorry you're feeling dizzy and sleepy. Take care of yourself, and I hope your doctor can do something to help you. Don't worry about keeping up with your postings too much. Just pop in once in a while to let us know how you're doing.

(*8*) Good afternoon, John, RM, Rob

At 1:47 PM it's 103F

Hi, Gary, (*8*) I hope you’ll feel better soon, I know you’ve had these issues for some time now. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I’m okay, and I will have a look at my thread to see what you have sent me.

In the north west of England is the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. Here’s a photo of one of the lovely stations from c1980.

Good Thursday morning, Gary! (*8*)

I think you've been posting more in other threads, on the Big Boy locomotive and the movie musicals. It's a shame that your father's singing for those movies was uncredited.

I hope your heat isn't too overwhelming. Actually the temps have gone down a little bit here, with our highs only going up to about 90, though they're supposed to go back up into the mid 90s again by this weekend.

Good Tuesday morning, Gary! (*8*)

I hope you enjoyed your National Donut Day, and that you didn't pig out on them too much.

Has your desert heat been too much? I hope you've been able to cope with it, and enjoy your air conditioning.
