Since Trump came on the scene and made racism and misogyny acceptable behaviour, the acts of violence in Canada against Muslims and women by white racists and misogynists has been on the rise. That is Trump's doing. And a few Americans here still believe that what happens in the United States doesn't overflow into other countries.

I don't know why I even bother responding to your nonsense.

Firstly, it was a deeply flawed study methodology.

But, as an example of the nuance missing again....one of the comment picks up the problem with ignorance of sharia law in the west....

The article is misleading in stating "62% wanted some form of Shariah law in Canada." In truth, what the study found was that the strongest support was for the following response:

Allow individual Muslims or Muslim families to choose to be ruled by Sharia courts in the case of divorce and other family matters if they want to. In Israel, of all places, this is exactly the option offered to Muslim citizens.

It is not that respondents "wanted" some form of Sharia law but that they thought having the option to choose was a reasonable accommodation - which seems like a very Canadian compromise.

This thread is about Trump banning immigrants, green card holders and people who already have visas from the US.

Suddenly, a 7 minute speech by a well known social activist in front of a peaceful crowd at the US embassy protesting against Trump's illegal and nakedly anti-islamic immigration ban becomes a 'riot' to the paranoid and perpetually fearful.

It makes you all just look weak and ridiculous.

They'd rather be faux outraged over a "riot" more than a a Mosque being shot up. Go figure.
