Privately or in a Presidential Cabinet Meeting? I have a really dirty filthy fuckin mouth and not much of a vocabulary, but I don't ever recall saying "shithole" country nor have I heard anyone say it. That is to say, the term is not common, nor part of the lexicon, nor even found among dictionaries of what are euphemistically termed, Seldom Used Phrases (cuss words and vulgarities).

As to what else POTUS may have said, this is the fucking poiint:

Even if he could come up with organized, cogent, informed statements, shit like this derails him. The news is NOT fake news. The media report on what he says and does. This kind of foolishness doesn't help to convey whatever message we may hope he would have. This kind of unhinged behavior betrays a fake president.

This is like a script from a Hollywood comedy. But they wouldn't dream this up. It would be too tasteless.

That ignores the context. Trump is the representative of this country. And America is massively connected to other nations. It doesn't reflect well on our foreign relations having a person that is speaking on our behalf to call several of them shitholes.

And if we have to do negotiations with the named countries how does Trump's comment impact how the interaction goes? It's readily apparent what Trump thinks of them.

This isn't some random person saying something in private. That's a totally false comparison.
