Marco Rubio's plane to Munich turned around due to 'mechanical issue'

The secretary of state's plane, which was headed to the Munich Security Conference this weekend, landed at Joint Base Andrews at around 10 p.m. ET, the State Department said.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s plane to Munich turned around Thursday night after it "experienced a mechanical issue," according to the State Department.

State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a statement that the problem was a cracked windshield and that Rubio "intends to continue his travel to Germany and the Middle East on a separate air craft."

Rubio's plane, which was headed to Munich for the Munich Security Conference this weekend, landed back at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, at around 10 p.m. ET.

Walking back remarks is like the cheapest form of apology..."I'm sorry if you were offended".

Meaningless. It doesn't change the US policy. It isn't going to be believed by those who heard the remarks. Or Putin. It is just cheap messaging tactics made for a media op in order that the GQP Congress appears that they have some say in the matter.

And that is only because I will bet the farm that they are getting inundated with calls from the Defense industry about the collapse of orders that keep workers in just about all 50 states employed and their political coffers filled.

If he is that 'disturbed', he can drag Hegseth and the Trump administration onto the carpet in Committee and lay down the law.

But he won't.

The European news reports said that attendees to Vance's and Hegseth's speeches had a variety of responses.

Usually, American politicians giving speeches get rounds of applause when they say something affirming America's commitment to security. There was no applause.

Some of the attendees just stared like they were seeing a car wreck. Others whispered to the person sitting next to them. A few rolled their eyes because they weren't going to be lectured by middle-aged politicians who had no life experience that qualified them to be speaking. Germans and Brits in particular were thinking, "Hmmm... This seems familiar. When in history has someone come to Munich and given away European territory to a fascist dictator?"

It didn't help, in Hegseth's case, that he had been featured in news reports being booed by American military families at a German military base.

Nice of Sen Wicker to recover his backbone, now that this 44 year old booze-whore Fox News talking head who is on his third marriage has been confirmed. Better late than never, I suppose.
 
^^flipping an airplane over onto it's back isn't as easy as it looks. . .there are 2 very large protrusions from the fuselage called wings that tend to get into the way. . .so what happened to the wings? :unsure:

They broke off when it barrel rolled. It was luck that they did because it’s the only thing that kept it from blowing up.
 
Today's plane crash was a small one at a rural airport.

Two people are dead after two small aircraft collided in midair at an Arizona airport Wednesday, authorities said.

A Cessna 172S and Lancair 360 MK II collided at 8:28 a.m. near the Marana Regional Airport, just northwest of Tucson, according to preliminary information from the National Transportation Safety Board.

The single-engine planes “collided while upwind of runway 12,” one of two runways at the airport. The Cessna landed, and the Lancair crashed and burned near the other runway, the NTSB said.

The Marana Police Department confirmed two deaths from the incident. Two people were on each plane, the Town of Marana said in a news release.
