Humor-Satire Trump Staff Picks, Co-Conspirators and the Revolving Door of Departures [2024 Edition]

Happy trails, Greg Bovino.

Trump border patrol chief Greg Bovino to retire

US Border Patrol leader Greg Bovino, who became the leading public face of President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown, has announced he is retiring.

He told Breitbart News he would retire at the end of March, although he has not yet submitted the required paperwork.

Bovino led operations in Democratic-led cities including Los Angeles, Chicago and Minneapolis, where federal agents shot and killed two US citizens during confrontations.

He was relieved of his role in Minnesota shortly after January's fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti drew bipartisan condemnation and widespread protests.

I imagine that two things are happening:

1. Trying to make him disappear so that the Dems forget about him.

2. Trying to put as much distance between the regime and him when and if charges are filed.

A rare person of conscience resigned from the Trump Administration after 6 months on the job.

Top counterterrorism official Kent resigns over Trump’s Iran war, says Iran posed no imminent threat

Joe Kent, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, announced his resignation on Tuesday, citing his concerns about the justification for military strikes in Iran and saying he “cannot in good conscience” back the Trump administration’s war.

Kent said on social media that Iran “posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”

Kent, a former political candidate with connections to right-wing extremists, was confirmed to his post last July on a 52-44 vote. As head of the National Counterterrorism Center, he was in charge of an agency tasked with analyzing and detecting terrorist threats. His resignation reflects unease within Trump’s base about the war and shows that questions about the justification for the use of force in Iran extend to the right of President Donald Trump’s base and to senior members of the administration.

We've officially entered the "blame everyone else" phase of narcissistic collapse.

These stories hitting the press about Trump's cabinet officers being in a circular firing squad have their origin in the White House, as Trump's inner circle ramp up their efforts to facilitate Trump's narcissism.

White House Aides Desperately Trying to Save Trump From His Own Goon

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s “MAHA” vision is so controversial and electorally disastrous that the White House is warning the president to stay away from his own hand-picked Cabinet secretary.

The Trump White House is growing increasingly concerned that the Health and Human Services secretary’s policies will damage other Republican candidates in the 2026 midterm elections, on top of the widespread defeat Republicans are expected to face in November.

Suggestion for the bottom-of-the-barrel crowd in the Trump Administration: if a reporter asks you a question, don't attack the reporter. Don't try to take your case to Twitter. It's like trying to heckle a comedian: you will always lose.

In response to Richard Grennel's attacks on a New York Times reporter, the Times has posted the article about his destruction of the Kennedy Center and his impending unemployment without a paywall.

Richard Grenell worked hard during the 2024 election to be considered for secretary of state in a second Trump presidency, the culmination of years spent in big national security jobs.

Less than two years later, President Trump has taken away the only full-time administration job Mr. Grenell landed in this term, president of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and said that for now he has no other role in mind for Mr. Grenell.

This is what happens when they ask you a question and you respond with snark:
Mr. Grenell did not respond to a question on whether he will remain in government. In his remaining administration role, special missions envoy, including to Venezuela and North Korea, administration officials say he has repeatedly clashed over Venezuela policy with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who won out over Mr. Grenell in his quest to be America’s top diplomat.

Mr. Grenell also did not respond to questions about his future and his turbulent year. Instead, he sent a text message criticizing The New York Times’s coverage of Republicans and conservatives.

He was nuts if he thought he would get out alive.

He'll probably get some gig in far right wing think tank or maybe he can become Peter Thiel's bumboy around the house.

I know he will figure out a way to grift in this election cycle...but his value has dropped considerably.

I'd also say he should be used to getting fucked royally in the ass...but I think he might be one of those sociopathic power tops who never takes a dick.

Alina Habba is like gum on your shoe. We can't seem to get rid of her. Habba was Trump's attorney in the fraud cases in New York where he was found guilty. As a reward, Trump tried to illegally appoint her as US Attorney for New Jersey. When Federal Judges ruled that she had been illegally appointed, she was forced to resign in December.... allegedly. Pam Bondi still has Habba on the payroll as a "Justice Department senior adviser".

It appears that Habba is still working in the NJUSA office. And the judges are fed up.

And why is it always pedos? Why always pedos?

A judge threw a prosecutor from the NJUSA out of court today. The case was for a defendant charged with possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The judge accused the prosecution of totally fucking up the case to the point where they were allowing a pedophile to take a plea bargain because of their incompetence. He accused the attorneys from the NJUSA of lying to him. He is threatening to throw out all cases from the NJUSA office if he doesn't get answers, particularly answers as to who is the US Attorney for DOJ's New Jersey office.

The articles are below.

Judge throws prosecutor out of court and orders leaders of NJ’s US Attorney’s office to testify

Vexed by the Justice Department’s chaotic oversight of federal prosecutions in New Jersey, a judge on Monday threw a government attorney out of a hearing and ordered the three officials in charge of the state’s U.S. Attorney’s office to answer his questions under oath.

U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi lit into prosecutors after another judge ruled last week that the Trump administration’s decision to replace interim U.S. Attorney Alina Habba with a trio of officials was another violation of the Constitution’s Appointments Clause, which requires Senate confirmation.

Three prosecutors in New Jersey U.S. attorney's office were appointed illegally

A judge ruled that three prosecutors were illegally appointed to run the U.S. attorney's office in New Jersey. NPR's Steve Inskeep talks to Kim Wehle, constitutional scholar and law professor.

Federal judges keep telling the Justice Department that President Trump's hand-picked U.S. attorneys are serving illegally. The latest instance is in New Jersey. A judge disqualified the acting U.S. attorney because she served too long without Senate approval. The administration replaced her with a team of three lawyers, and the same judge says that was also unlawful. In other districts, when judges appoint prosecutors to lead these offices, the Department of Justice just fires them. So what's the effect on the justice system? Kim Wehle is on the line. She's a constitutional scholar and law professor at the University of Baltimore. Kim, welcome back.

In response to the blowup, the Justice Department criticized the judge:
Chad Gilmartin, a spokesman for the Justice Department, told the Times: “Unfortunately some judges are more interested in courtroom theatrics and constitutional overreach than promoting public safety. It is an especially troubling moment when a court chooses to sideline a case involving child exploitation.”

These DOJ employees are going to lose their law licenses if they continue this nonsense.

NYTimes has more detail behind their firewall:

He likely resigned because of his really far right wing views on Jews directing US foreign policy.

This guy is no saint.

...and let's see where this goes...a regime now bent on revenge? Or Kent trying to dodge a bullet?

The only surprise about Joe Kent is that he doesn't have a beard. That seems to be a requirement for MAGA types.

Under normal circumstances, his resignation would be viewed as a relief. He was never qualified for the position. He was plainly hired because he looked good on camera and he was a MAGA loyalist. The vote was 53-44 to confirm him.

Like MTG, it's a canary-in-a-coal-mine moment. He walked away because the America First faction of MAGA is not on board with Trump's war follies and he's being loud about his reasons for getting off the Trump train.

Reading the headlines about his actions this week is also a sampling of how both sides are spinning the split in the MAGA coalition.

Joe Kent’s resignation over Iran war reignites antisemitism fears and debate over Israeli influence

The conversation encapsulated two schisms within the Republican Party and the right-wing media system, both of which have reached high into the national security establishment of the Trump administration.

There’s a foreign policy debate over the wisdom of Trump’s Iran and the future of United States’ longstanding alliance with Israel.

But there also are fears that the focus on Israel is the leading edge of an antisemitic fringe that has gained ground by portraying Jews as shadowy manipulators, echoing some of history’s most hateful tropes.

Joe Kent Stuns on Tucker Carlson: 'Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Was Preventing Iran's Nuclear Weapon Development'

Joe Kent, the former head of the National Counterterrorism Center, also dismissed claims of an imminent nuclear threat from Iran, stating the country was not close to developing a weapon.

Yesterday, in front of Congress, Tulsi Gabbard said two shocking things:
  • It is not the job of the "intelligence community" to define what is an imminent threat to the US.
  • Only the President can define was is an imminent threat.

Gabbard was confirmed by the Senate to Director of National Intelligence by a vote of 52-48.

We spend billions on intelligence collection and analysis. If they're not determining what constitutes an imminent threat, then what the fuck is their purpose?

It doesn't matter any more.

Again, Gabbard is only there to undermine and gut the Intelligence branch.

Besides being an outright Kremlin agent, she is on board with an autocrat leading by their 'gut' instinct and force of personality.

And damnation to all the Dems who lined up to confirm her.

They knew eactly waht she is.

Andy Borowitz reports on Facebook:

" A far-right conspiracy theorist turned high-ranking official at the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema) claims to have once teleported to a Waffle House.
Gregg Phillips, who in December was appointed to lead Fema’s office of response and recovery, has spoken on “multiple podcasts” about being teleported against his will, CNN reported on Friday.
On a January 2025 podcast appearance, Phillips claimed that his car was “lifted up” while he was driving and transported 40 miles (65km) away into a ditch near a church. And in another instance on the same episode, Phillips said he was teleported 50 miles away to a Waffle House in Rome, Georgia, CNN detailed in a deep dive into Phillips’ past public statements.
“I was with my boys one time, and I was telling them I was gonna go to Waffle House and get Waffle House. And I ended up at a Waffle House – this was in Georgia, and I end up at a Waffle House like 50 miles away from where I was,” Phillips said on the podcast Onward, co-hosted by rightwing activist Catherine Engelbrecht.
Phillips added: “And they said, ‘where are you?’ and I said, ‘a Waffle House.’ And: ‘a Waffle House where?’ And I said: ‘Waffle House in Rome, Georgia.’ And they said: “‘That’s not possible, you just left here a moment ago.’ But it was possible. It was real.”
But Phillips did warn about the dangers of teleportation.
“Teleporting is no fun,” he said “You know it’s happening, but you can’t do anything about it, and so you just go, you just go with the ride. And wow, what just an incredible adventure it all was.”"

I'd understand if it was to my favorite Waffle House. The one across from Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta. But to one in Marjorie Taylor Greene's district? Bull.

Another plane crash, this one lethal. Real World Sean is getting a lot of practice at press conferences about "incidents".

Preliminary analysis of flight tracking data from Flight Radar 24 shows despite Air Canada Express flight 8646 decelerating as it touched down at LaGuardia Airport, it collided with a Port Authority firefighting vehicle on the runway at about 90 knots, or 104 miles per hour...

Two pilots were killed and 41 people were taken to hospitals after the collision, officials said.

The LaGuardia control tower is among the FAA’s highest-level, most complex facilities, rated 11 out of 12. FAA data from April 2025 shows it is staffed close to targeted levels, though it is not yet clear how many controllers were working at the time or whether staffing was a factor.
