Re: Trump Staff Pickson0mic every day

I disagree with your assumption that politicians and bureaucrats understand economics more than businessmen and bankers. I think the contrary is true. Bankers and high level businessmen live with economics every day and see the consequences of their mistakes. Did Obama have any contact with economics prior to assuming the presidency, aside from his favorable study of marxism? Apparantly not, and his every decision was dictated by liberal ideology with all mistakes being blamed on the GOP. Trump, Ross, Rickets, Romney and Mnuchin are all experienced business men who live economics and live with discipline of the need to make a profit;ideology and blame do not help much.

That's not the issue at all. Understanding the subject matter (e.g. economics) is a different skill set than managing a bureaucracy. If you look at the career of someone like George H.W. Bush or Robert Gates or Leon Panetta, it's easy to discount them as a "career bureaucrat". However, each of these men has earned a level of respect for their deep understand of government- specifically their knowledge of where the levers of government are and how to press those levers.

The danger in these particular candidates for cabinet positions is many of them have the perfect trifecta for failure: rigid ideology, lack of subject matter knowledge about the department's purpose and lack of understanding of government.

Several of the female nominees seem to at least have government experience (Chao, Haley) and a couple of the male candidates have both a subject matter expertise and government experience (Mattis, Kelly). Others like Carson show none of the qualities that would make them eligible for the position.

Re: Trump Staff Pickson0mic every day

I think the ridgid ideology is on the part of the democrats. Businessmen are pragmatists by nature. Hiring career bureacrats ensures things won't get done. The budget will grow, more people will be hired and thats about it.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

I'm waiting to see what office he'll name JOE ARPAIO for.

Pretty much this.

In order to piss off more people and please Arpaio supporters, you can be sure that he will appoint him as Gauleiter if not sturmbannführer.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

^ I think the only reason Trump is dangling SoS in front of Romney is to humiliate him when he chooses some wing-nut like Giuliani.

Bollocks.
When you're in business you deal with the affairs of the business and the market.
Everything else is an externality.

The number of failed businesses are a pointer to the logic of choosing 'managerial' qualities over specific skill and knowledge.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

The entire cabinet and all of his choices is sizing up to be a perfect reflection of the man who appointed them....
actually thought he'd try to put a few Dems in there to bring the country together as he lost the election---fooled again:lol:trumps cabinet.jpg

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Shes a rich douche bag WWE Christian cunt

Lol---but saying she worked hard? lol---billions of people get up in the morning and work way harder and don't have a pot to piss in.
If you know any wealthy HONEST people they will tell you---it's not only hard work---its being in the right place at the right time--and knowing people that creates wealth. If hard work were the answer we'd have billions of billionaires in the world.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Anyone reading who takes blood pressure or heart meds... you might need it right now. Just read that the leading finalist to Mitt Romney as Secretary of State under Donald Trump is Rex Tillerson, CEO of Exxon- Mobil. Yeah, drain the swamp... Trump instead is just putting in fat cats, ideologues, political campaign contributors, and a failed Establishment Labor Secretary(Elaine Chao, who did such a mediocre job as George W Bush's Labor Secretary... but her husband Senator Mitch Mc Connell of Kentucky I happy)... Trump has more than a month to inauguration yet he is sowing the seeds of a monumental disaster and I wish so much I may be wrong. I just don't have a good feeling at all about where we are headed.

During election Obama asked the repubs--specifically McConnell ---to speak with one voice against Russia hacking of the election--Graham and McCain were on board but McConnell head of the party---said no--not enough proof and took the trump line---his wife was rewarded with a job lol

Yeah, he's not draining the swamp, he's pumping in toxic waste.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

And for what it's worth, the number two man in the State Department will apparently be John Bolton, as Rex Tillerson has no experience in diplomacy at all. Negotiated some sweet deals with the Russian government for Exxon' Mobil, it seems... and the congresswoman from Washington set to take over at Interior wants to sell millions of acres of federal lands for energy, logging and mining interests. I hope Trump meets with protests from day 1... may he never have a day of peace for his Administration... he can't be allowed to crush what's left of the American spirit without a fight.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

^ Do you actually think that TrumpCo. will care about protests?

If they stay true to form, they will just steamroll over everyone, hitting one thing after another with such violence and force that everyone will become numb...particularly if it comes with increased bottom line for the corporations where they've invested their savings and pensions.

The idea of Bolton back in power is repugnant beyond imagining.

But I do hope that as you say, the Trump administration never gets a single day's rest until they are voted out in four years.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

So the news all this week is Trump's very public parade of candidates for his cabinet and staff to meet with Trump. I just did a spit take on hearing that Laura Ingram is being considered for Press Secretary. What do you think of the folks being considered so far and what this telling of about what Trump's White House will be like.

We will have a Sec'y of Labor who is a fast food exec to whom minimum wage increase and worker rights are anathema. Education goes to a billionaire who has made it her life's work to dismantle public education in favor of Charter Schools, which also gut teachers' unions. Defence goes to Gen. "Mad Dog" Mattis, who thinks defence is for pussies, and prefers a more aggressive tact, spent a lifetime preparing for war...like, it's his whole raision d'etre, and now they can really have at it because there is no civilian leadership, except for, of course, for a TV producer. [Google Gen. "Mad Dog" Mattis and read some of his famous quotes]. The AG goes to a throwback bigot from the Jim Crow south. He will be more a prosecutor in chief. Arguably the worst possible AG for civil rights enforcement since the Civil War. John Bolton, who is considered a hawk among even xenophobic conservatives, is second chair at State. If this were a satirical movie or TV show, an SNL skit maybe...it would be laughable. But the cabinet picks are our new reality, and there is nothing funny here at all.

It is the most bizarre, insulting and frankly, dangerous assemblage of characters imaginable...outside of a Marvel comic book about a super villain madman intent on wrecking the world.

Speaking of SNL
