So another pustulent nominee who hates the department he was to be appointed to has bit the dust.

"No matter how you cut it, there is no worse pick for Labour Secretary than Andrew Puzder, and I'm encouraged my Republican colleagues are starting to agree," Democratic leader Sen Chuck Schumer said prior to the announcement. "He does not belong anywhere near the Labour Department, let alone at the head of it. So maybe a hint of sanity this week.

Betsy Devos actually resisted the lifting of the protections for lgbt students and H R McMaster has set himself on a collision course with Bannon and Trump, by reinforcing the importance of liberal democracies and making it clear that he is not going to be on board with demonizing an entire religion.

His speech to staff seems to have unsettled White House staffers.

To her credit, she reportedly asked what protections there would be from bullying for transgender children.

In the end it didn't matter. Pence has to dance with the idealogues that brung him.

Meanwhile.....Trump is apparently having trouble finding enough people who either want to work in his administration......or who haven't been red-lined because they have previously written or said something critical bout him.

He has almost 2000 positions unfilled.

I think it is partly intentional. He is afraid of his staff and afraid of losing absolute control.

I emailed Bannon last week recalling our conversation, telling him that I planned to write about it and asking him if he wanted to comment on or correct my account of it. He responded:
