Re: Trump Staff Picks

… let's keep the thread on topic.
I second the motion that we keep this thread on topic.

The motion is granted.

Note that Trump is not discriminating against gays or Hispanics.

Your post quoted above^ is a form of harassment, though we refer to it as attempting to derail a discussion. It is unwelcome. Please conform your behavior to the Posting Guidelines “or a mod will sort it out.”

I don't understand. The thread is about his Staff picks and he has repeatedly been accused of being homophobic, racist, xenophobic etc. but a one sentence pointing out his lack of discrimination is"harassment" or derailment from "Staff picks"?

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Given that Mrs Reid came from the Ritz Carlton Hotels, it will be interesting to see who the replacement is...

White House fires its chief usher — the first woman in that job

White House staff were informed on May 5 that chief usher Angella Reid was no longer working there. (Patrick Martin/The Washington Post)

The White House has fired its chief usher, Angella Reid, the first woman and second African American to hold the position.

When the White House residence staff arrived at work Friday morning, they were told that Reid was no longer employed, according to someone with knowledge of the dismissal. A White House official confirmed that Reid is no longer working at the White House.

Reached by phone, Reid declined to comment, saying only, “I think it’s best if the White House explains.”

Re: Trump Staff Picks

No, it is legal question. It is not assault or even harassment if the woman likes it. Being "unwelcome" is part of the definition of harassment.

The women Trump grabbed obviously didn't like it. They Sued The Bastard!

Stop protecting and excusing a sexual predator.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

His staff picks horrify me. They should horrify anyone who is informed, regardless their political affiliation. Every selection is a validation that he intends to rape the entire nation for his personal gain. This is obvious and it is a real, live, and authenticated fact.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

Unfortunately people who voted for him feel like they need to be loyal. Which I will never understand this mentality. Of all people to be loyal to, one shouldn't be the POTUS if that person is making decisions that you disagree with or is going against the reasons one voted for them. People do mental gymnastics to defend decisions even though it goes against their very beliefs.

It's unclear whether they're not wanting to fill positions or whether they're having trouble getting the good candidates to answer the phone.

Or both.

Some of these stranger candidates are patronage appointments- he's rewarding some of the people who worked for his campaigns in the various states.

Kind of like this guy:

Trump’s EPA pick bumbles from Washington state onto national stage
Trump tapped Don Benton, a former state senator from Vancouver and Trump’s Northwest campaign manager, to be his senior liaison to the Environmental Protection Agency. What’s shocking about this isn’t Benton’s anti-green views. It’s that he has an almost perfect track record of failure and interpersonal conflict, often resulting in legal or disciplinary action, at every public position he’s held.

After he flamed out at the EPA, he was reappointed to head the Selective Service Administration... you know, the agency responsible for the draft... the draft that was discontinued back in the early 70s?

Nation, meet Don Benton
Nearly every week, the nation gets to know Clark County’s very own Don Benton a little bit more.

The former Washington state lawmaker continues to make national headlines.

This week, Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth, of Illinois, who happens to be an Iraq war veteran, took some time to talk about Benton’s appointment to oversee the draft during a press conference.

Duckworth takes issues with President Donald Trump’s claims of draining the swamp and accuses him of filling posts with unqualified, incompetent or extreme candidates. But among all of those hires, she said, Benton stands out.

He has no military service, she points out. The first person ever to oversee the selective services without military experience. He’s made misogynistic and rude comments to women. He was supposed to serve in the EPA, she said, but was too extreme for Scott Pruitt.

^ KaraBulut I am actually at a loss. I wanted to give him the benefit of a doubt, but his actions are contrary to his campaign. His uninformed thinking is shocking. In my heart I am sincerely weeping.

Re: Trump Staff Picks

^ Remember that Bannon still is whispering in his ear and that his agenda is to undermine and destroy Federal government. Filling posts with incompetent staff...or just not bothering to fill positions at all will hasten the loss of confidence in federal departments....all part of Bannon's nihilist agenda.

Let me take a stab at this.

The replacement will be a male that Trump has had blinded and made deaf so that he can't tell any tales.

I suspect that by the time the first year is up that there will have been a HUGE turnover in White House staff.

No one wants to destroy the Federal government. Your agenda of ever more powerful, ever more intruding government is not the only alternative to nihilism. At some point the governemt should say; individuals are allowed make choices even if they are wrong. They can choose how large a coke they want without democrats dictation. They can choose not to eat all vegetable for their school lunch. They can think negative thoughts about other cultures and religions, even minorities.

The question that remains to be answered is whether the 62 million people who voted for Trump knowingly voted for a compulsive and habitual liar or whether they were duped by the same gullibility that kept PT Barnum in business for decades.

For a while, there's been a narrative that "government doesn't work", so appointees that are incompetent are a great way to create the conditions that support the narrative that they want to complain about- a self-fulfilling prophecy.

This administration has set a new bar for appointing and nominating underqualified, antithetical candidates. If Bernie Madoff were not in prison, they probably would have nominated him to oversee the Federal Reserve.

^ Remember that Bannon still is whispering in his ear
Well, Pence was in charge of transition after Christie got Kushnered.

His fingerprints are all over the place:
Trump names anti-abortion leader Yoest to top HHS post
Trump Will Tap Woman Who Thinks Birth Control Doesn’t Work to Lead U.S. Birth Control Program
Official Involved in Bush-Era Purge of Gay Employees Now in Trump Administration
Trump’s HHS appoints anti-trans activist to protect trans health
Trump taps anti-LGBTQ activist Roger Severino to lead HHS Civil Rights Office
Trump Cabinet Who's Who of Homophobia

These appointments support the theory that they knowingly voted for a liar and they traded votes for an opportunity to re-advance their agenda.

...I suspect that by the time the first year is up that there will have been a HUGE turnover in White House staff.
There's a great book called The Residence about the White House and the permanent White House staff who operate it. Many of the employees of the White House stay in their jobs for decades and serve multiple Administrations. They're very discrete but some information has leaked out about the goings-on in the White House.

One of the families who was most well-liked was Pres and Mrs George H.W. Bush (the last time one of the White House staff was fired was when Hillary fired one of the staff for allegedly "gossiping" with Barbara Bush). Among the most hated was Nancy Reagan (they liked President Reagan but not Nancy, so much). There's some great stories about the vulgarity and condescending rudeness of LBJ.

After the Trump years, there will no doubt be stories about the current Administration. Don't be surprised if it sounds like the last days of Howard Hughes or Charles Foster Kane.

Benvolio

Stay on Topic. This isn't about you beating your personal dead hobby horses.

The maladroit and pernicious appointments to every department make it very clear that the intent was to make the Federal Administrative Departments grind to a halt or to demonstrate such incompetence as to undermine all credibility, including the State Department...your personal opinion on whether this is a great thing is of no relevance...it does not change the fact that Bannon and Co. are intent on inflicting mortal damage on the established government.

You may want to rethink that last line. This line hits the wrong target completely! Just WOW!

They can choose to be fat and get diabetes and never be able to get health insurance because they have a pre-existing condition.

You're very good at proving yourself wrong.

Democrat political correctness is thought and speech control to a degree seen only under totalitarian regimes. You seem to be suggesting the government should prohibit negative thoughts about people.

Just WOW, dude!
