Re: Trump Staff Picks and Revolving Door of Departures

Is it necessary to take shots at their appearance?

It actually is worse. It is making fun of fake blondes. So it is like a blonde joke. Like she is.

Contrast:

Dr Madeleine Albright - PhD, Columbia School of International Affairs. She speaks five languages, including French and Russian. She worked in various government positions for 20 years before being confirmed to her position as the UN Ambassador.

Heather Nauert - MA Journalism, Columbia. She is currently the spokesperson for the State Department. Prior to her work on Fox and Friends, she had worked as the host of a country and western music program and various network affiliates for ABC and Fox for 20 years. She speaks english but has vacationed in foreign countries.

I supposed we should be happy that she's not currently under indictment for anything.

Re: Trump Staff Picks and Revolving Door of Departures

Speaking of Heather Nauert, her former boss Rex Tillerson (with whom she's rumored to have butted heads with) recently gave a rare speech for a charity fundraiser that according to the Houston Chronicle contained the following comments:

On Russian meddling in the 2016 election:
When asked if he believes that Russia interfered in the presidential elections, Tillerson replied “there's no question” and that it was well-documented by intelligence agencies.

“What Russia wants to do is undermine our confidence and undermine the world’s confidence in us,” Tillerson said.

On Trump's approach to foreign policy:
"So often, the president would say here's what I want to do and here's how I want to do it and I would have to say to him, Mr. President I understand what you want to do but you can't do it that way. It violates the law," Tillerson said.

Trump would get very frustrated when they would have those conversations, he said.

On the Tweets:
"I will be honest with you, it troubles me that the American people seem to want to know so little about issues, that they are satisfied with a 128 characters," Tillerson told Schieffer.

Re: Trump Staff Picks and Revolving Door of Departures

And Trump isn't liking the criticism.

"Mike Pompeo is doing a great job, I am very proud of him. His predecessor, Rex Tillerson, didn’t have the mental capacity needed. He was dumb as a rock and I couldn’t get rid of him fast enough. He was lazy as hell. Now it is a whole new ballgame, great spirit at State?!"

Of course, Pompeo helped Trump help MBS cover up the killing of Kashoggi.

But we'll see how long Pompeo can hold his nose.

And......he's gone at last.

The man who sold out his honour to satisfy his own racism.

The man who has helped enable his monster to function for the last 18 months. Until even he isn't on speaking terms with Trump.

Rumour is that Mnuchin and Lighthizer are on their way out as well.

I suspect that they want to get out of the way before the recession they create lands in January.

Re: Trump Staff Picks and Revolving Door of Departures

^ I read in a different article that he wanted a duration commitment from Trump and Trump refused to give him one.

Good for him for basically giving Trump 'the finger'.

Re: Trump Staff Picks and Revolving Door of Departures

The Press has been expecting this for a while, so they didn't focus on the fact that Kelly on lasted 18 months in the job.

This was someone who spent 46 years in the military. He went through the Gulf War and the Iraq War and he provided support for police efforts in the LA Riots. He described working for Trump as "the worst job I've ever had".
White House chief of staff John Kelly’s description of working for Trump is among the notable excerpts that have been shared. The retired general, who took over the role after Reince Priebus was ousted, reportedly described the position as “the worst job I’ve ever had.”

“We’re in Crazytown. I don’t know why any of us are here,” he reportedly said. Kelly was known to refer to the president as “an idiot,” commenting that “it’s pointless to try to convince him of anything,” while his predecessor, Priebus, described Trump’s bedroom—where he watches cable news and writes furious tweets—as “the devil’s workshop.”

*pondering whether to add "refugees" to the thread title*

Opinion: The Most Powerful Reject in the World. Is there anyone who wants to hang with Donald Trump? [Frank Bruni/NY Times]
He’s not wanted....
While other presidents sought to hone the art of persuasion, he revels in his talent for repulsion: how many people he attacks (he styles this as boldness); how many people he offends (he pretties this up as authenticity); how many people he sends into exile. His administration doesn’t have alumni so much as refugees. H.R. McMaster, Gary Cohn and Reince Priebus are a dumbfounded diaspora all their own.

Re: Trump Staff Picks and Revolving Door of Departures

omg.

Chris Christie even knows this post will be poison.

"I’ve told the president that now is not the right time for me or my family to undertake this serious assignment," said Chris Christie. "As a result I have asked him to no longer keep me in any of his considerations for this post.”

^ Holy crap! They're refusing to 'board the ship' so they don't have to 'jump it' later.

Donald Trump:
"People, let me tell you 'bout my best friend
He's a warm hearted person who'll love me till the end
People, let me tell you bout my best friend
He's a... What do you mean he moved to Nambia?"
