Braillard is Melania's stylist. Trump is using donor money to pay for his wife's expensive clothing budget. In spite of this expense being flagged by the Press in Aug, 2023, the payments have continued, the FEC is not doing anything about it and his supporters continue sending him money.

Maga, GQP, and Trump. There is no Republican party; it has become a cult. If you read about infamous cults (including Hitler), it begins by turning the head and pretending they didn't just say crazy and psychotic things. It usually ends up with death and destruction.

Our country is based on having two viable parties and not one party and one cult. Although I'm a straight-party Democrat now, I used to occasionally vote for a Republican that expressed cogent beliefs. One of my favorites was Representative Vern Ehlers -- the only nuclear physicist in Congress. He was not a fan nor favorite of Newt which is probably why I enjoyed his views. Today, he would be ostracized by his party.

There is no question that the Republican party is dead and buried...under the garbage populism and neo-fascism of its leadership.

In Canada, we are used to political parties blowing themselves up and then re-inventing...but we have a much more resilient multi-party system...so the centre tends to hold more easily.

Trumpism in the US really scares me as a Canadian. He makes the US undependable and hostile and his toxic behaviour has already spread across the border and infected our own politics.

I don't know what Americans are playing at these days.

Instead of rallying to crush him...it seems like the majority of people in the US are just remaining silent and letting all this happen to them.

In a speech, the former president and businessman said he was not guilty of any crimes and accused authorities of persecuting him as the country gets ready to hold elections May 5.
