Yes...the election certification looms large over this.

We know that the Dems aren't going to be giving aid and comfort to the GQP in the election of speaker...or they had better not. Although I have repeatedly been writing that there are some Dems who are so beholden to maintaining the 'norms' of peaceful transfer of power that they are just as likely as not to prop Johnson up for more 'promises' to work together.

I suspect thought that Trump's turnabout after basically rolling over Johnson about the debt ceiling debacle was likely driven by the sudden realization that it could be an almost impossible task to elect a speaker before certification otherwise.

I suspect though that certification means nothing to TrumpCo. or to anyone really. In many respects it is a meaningless exercise held over from the 19th century when communications were not so immediate. It also is so tainted after TrumpCo. smeared shit all over it in 2021.

Let's see if Dems have some balls.

Both parties are stuck in a cycle between the Hastert Rule and Pelosi's rule that Democrats vote for Democratic Speakers. Pelosi didn't come to Boehner's rescue. And Pelosi and Boehner liked each other. Pelosi (and now Jeffries) don't respect the latest crop of Republican leaders.

Johnson fucked over the Democrats, didn't include Jeffries in some leadership discussions and then came crying when spending bills needed 218 votes to pass. The Democrats don't trust Johnson and they aren't going to make nice with Johnson.

As sad as it is to say, Boehner was the last Speaker that the Democrats would have put country over partisanship for. Since Boehner, they've been willing to watch Republican House leaders squirm like a salted slug at the mercy of the Krazy Kaucus that Republicans keep sending back to Congress.

We know he won't go to jail or face any kind of custodial sentence equivalent but as noted by Michaels Steele: " the judge is saying, 'Okay, I will acknowledge the fact you are now coming in in a week's time as the new president of the United States ––you are still convicted. I may not fine you, I may not give you jail time, but you will not be able to erase what that jury did."

Two words.

Two words that have embarrassed him so much because he is not permitted entry into Canada that it is certainly one of the ressons he is threatening to take it over after we pointed out why Trudeau had to fly to meet him in Florida.

And it is nothing he can pardon himself for. It will always remain a stain on his name for all time. A shyster, grifter and cheat.

Besides being the man that incredibly stupid and ill informed cult members voted for.

What is that on the horizon? Scalia, Brett, Neil, and Uncle Thomas on cavalry horses riding to the rescue!

And if they don't have any jurisdiction, they'll just make it up and erase the crimes anyway! It pains me to say this but the upper levels (and a bunch of the lower ones) of our justice system are just taking cue from the Roberts court and inventing law to suit their whim. One more step to Autocracy.

The lower courts will be a battle between Biden appointees and Toad appointees with the corruption on the Roberts court being the arbiter. During every case that touches Toad there will be terrorists from the right threatening (and possibly attempting) to kill Sotomayor, Kagan, and especially Jackson.

In the end, there will be no justice, not even on the record. Then, when this nightmare is finally over, the Dems will refuse to revisit it becayise it's "in the past," and "divisive."

The time for any kind of justice for the things Toad has done is gone, not that there was much chance of anything more than a slap on the wrist anyway.
