And then his lawyers hired a third party to find them? My turn to play Tucker Carlson: *makes face as if I've just smelled a fart* Do we know who this party is? What's the likelihood it could've included a foreign enemy in espionage who had access to whoknowswhat for whoknowhowlong?

I cannot fucking even even.

The fact that this perp continues day after day to elude not only justice but even the full process of justice just fucking baffles me.

Because his supposed opponents are really just pretend opponents. Just like when they're accused of cowardice for not standing up to Trump - is false. They're pretend cowards to camouflage co-conspiracy. It's all part of the show. When it comes down to it; Silence = Complicity = Consent. What they DO is what counts. Everything they DO says they condone and support Trump and all that Trump does and the agenda Trump stands for. Because the Trump agenda is the party agenda. Anything else is gaslighting.

Trump is the personification of the republican party. Trump IS what they ARE. They ARE what Trump IS.
That may be appealing to think, as the GOP bears huge responsibility for letting it get this far, but it's simply not accurate to pretend some like Mitt Romney, Larry Hogan, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Arnold Schwartzenegger, and several other prominent members have consistently opposed Trump. It's not theater or a show. They are simply in a minority.

When you're in a minority, your voice is quashed by the majority.

It's gratuitous to dismiss an entire group of people out of pique, but it is simple bigotry. I don't agree with the GOP. I've never voted for Republicans. But that doesn't make them a monoculture, even today.

Using that zero sum math, it paints entire states as red or blue when there may be 40 or 45% minority opposition. The state votes to restrict abortion. That doesn't make the state a hive mind.

He's an entrepeneurial genius cuz of how he runs all his businesses, but also he had no idea what was going on and had no part in the tax fraud. :rotflmao:

...When you're in a minority, your voice is quashed by the majority...
From where I'm sitting, your voice is not heard when you're not speaking up... and when the other party is using a bullhorn to make us think they're the majority.

But we're talking about the opposition within the party.

And in fairness, the left through the major networks and the two coasts' print media sources often portrays the progressive view as if it were ubiquitous outside some holdouts.

Yeah, not really. The networks are corporate, risk-averse, and painfully centrist. The fact that people dodn't know what a centrist looks like is because they've been lostening to far-right lunacy for too long.

It's just a fable that there's overwhelming "Liberal Media." Any time someone catches themselves parroting FOX it's time to re-assess.

According to the binary silliness of the political spectrum, the US is a center/right country. We haven't elected a Liberal since FDR. The media reflects that.

Ok...there's an itty bitty, teeny tiny minority speaking out. The rest of them.... well.... Silence = Complicity = Consent. Play "both sides" if you want, and try to defend the entire republican fascist party based on a miniscule few. I call it on what the rest of them DO. And what the rest of them DO, is crickets to nothing to oppose Trump and the Trump authoritarian agenda.

Yup, complicity before or after the fact is still complicity, Silence and inaction are conscious choices.

I defend those who stood for democracy, who stand for the Constitution.

If there are 3, then I stand for them. If there are 3,000, the same. They have their view, and I have mine, but I defend their view as long as they are pro-Constitution, pro-civility, pro-equality, and pro-diversity.

As for the itty bitties, I'm not sure how we'd hear of the rank and file who disagree with the Trumpists, as they don't catch any headlines or interviews unless they are in power.

I regularly watch Margaret Hoover on Firing Line, and she very much represents the moderate Republicans and has a constant stream of guests who demonstrate that. Moderates rarely garner attention. The media is self-screening for the extremes. That's what they do.

Hate to destroy your fantasies of Cheney but that does indeed sound like all of them.

Just what is the record of Cheney et al when it comes to inclusion and diversity?

The toad is a symptom of what the Republicans are, not the cause.

Oh, and what, five or six RETIRING pubs fleeing the field is not a defense of democracy. Cheney has been vile most of her career and is a prime example of Republicans disliking what they created with ther lawlessness and election rigging and cultivating of racists, misogynists, and homophobes for votes. I'll give a conditional pass to the young one since he has no history - and a handful is not a "minority" it is an aberration.

The Republican party is wholly, thoroughly, action or inaction responsible for building the monster they now can't control.

Period.

End of story.

And that includes that pile of Quibble in Maine.

We are not hearing from them because so few of them are there. Pretty much half of those who voted in the mid-terms, voted for Trumpites. Margins were very close. We were lucky to out-vote them in many races. But yeah....we heard from millions of rank and file who still worship Trump and who stand for his agenda. If there were a significant moderate republican electorate, we would not have had all those incompetent, unqualified, extremist republican fascist candidates nominated in the primaries. Yeah, I am grateful for the handful of moderate voters, media, and elected officials, but they are no match for the millions of voters and elected officials who are still dedicated to the authoritarian fascist agenda. Not to mention, the ever expanding far Reich media. Those "moderates" are like trying to extinguish an erupting volcano with a bottle of Pepsi.

And just wait. It is true, there may be some in the media trying to pull away. But when/if it becomes evident that those millions of voters (who are the ones that really count), still want Trump, all that media will be back worshipping at the feet of Der Trumpenführer.

It also needs to be reiterated once again that those so-called moderates had no problems catering to the bigots and religiously intolerant for decades - any real look at the policy and m.o. employed by Republicans over time, the number of "moderates" shrinks to vanishingly small. Disliking the toad does not make one a moderate.
