What is more at stake is that if he gets away with this...so will every other rich white person who falsifies financial records.

So, now with the convictions, there is the discussion of his sentencing.

Shockingly, the minimum sentence for felonies is ZERO!

What does that say about our (U.S.) courts, when a felony, a major crime by definition, can be brushed aside with no jail time?

This again highlights the disparity between white collar crime and blue collar.

If Trump can be convicted of 34 counts and then not be meaningfully punished, or allowed to stay free while on endless appeal, we have more reasons to burn the place down.

It says overcrowded prisons full of people busted for a joint, and no room for non-violent offenses. It means rich white guy. It means White Collar crimes are inherently privileged. It means that despite this conviction it's highly unlikely that Toad will have any punishment at all before Alito and the SC Trogs come to his rescue.

Cohen's sentence in Federal court was 3 years in prison.

Even a year in a NY State prison is hell.

I must say, by the way, that I was worried that with 34 charges, it would be an impossible task for the jury to return a guilty verdict for all of them and that a not guilty verdict on any of them would strengthen the case for appeal.

We know that the GQP is so committed to Trump as President for Life that they will ignore and deride the convictions.

His supporters will just be galvanized into literally being willing to drink the Kool-Aid and will turn out in force at the polls in swing states.

We know that TrumpCo. is going to cash in big time on the guilty verdict as all his supporters flood him with more money.

But for today, I am going to enjoy knowing that a jury, having listened to the evidence, has convicted him of his crimes and that for the first time ever, his criminal acts have been recognized as felonies, instead of civil malfeasance.

And as I am on my way to Vermont and Maine for the upcoming week, I am going to enjoy knowing that any of his supporters that we meet will not be able to put their ugly smugness on display.

I do believe his very public contempt of the court means the judge will have no recourse other than to give him actual time in a prison. There will simply be a secret service team stationed there for the job, but he can't be let off with some lame public service or home confinement as a billionaire. God knows, he's allergic to service of any kind. Probably won't play tennis solely for the reason it requires one to serve.

Trump simply cannot beat President Joe Biden relying solely on the votes of people who think his legal travails are a politically motivated scam, and who cheer Trump not in spite of his transgressions but because of them. Or, more specifically, because they thrill to the outrage and indignation Trump inspires among his adversaries.

This is now the limus test for the voters who indicated that they likely couldn't vote for a convicted felon at exit polls.

There will be one tranche who are able to convince themselves that as long as the case is under appeal, he may not actually be a felon, but can TrumpCo. sway enough voters on this...or will the wavering Republicans accept that a jury of peers have delivered a convincing prima facie conviction and that to now cast their ballot for him....when they know so much worse about him anyway, is not worth losing their own civil moral centre one more time. And then maybe they will stay home. Or vote Libertarian as protest.

The issue is Democrats getting all sanctimonious over things like Gaza, and having tantrums and not voting for Biden is the way he'll get elected, just like all the whiny bitching that went on about Hillary. I wouldn't put it past that fascist in Israel to be keeping this war going in a bid to re-elect that orange fascist in Florida.

There are no minds to be changed, and this could drive every last Trog in the horde to the polls. Toad will still never get a majority, but he'll still win if the Democrats piss all over themselves as usual.
