Trump this.

Steve Schmidt, writing on Substack:
Everywhere there is silence.

My friends, let us assess the situation.

Elon Musk is seizing control of vast troves of data and financial information, and apparently the government’s trillion-dollar payment system. He has shut down USAID, and locked Foreign Service Officers out of their buildings, accessed classified computer systems, and alleged the uncovering of dark conspiracies just like Joseph McCarthy. The world’s richest man is a narcissist. He is attacking the United States of America with the blessings of the president he made his whore with $300,000,000 in political spending that was as corrupt as it was corrupting.

The FBI is being purged.

The State Department is being purged.

The US military is being abused as political props for afternoon fascist theater…

…and as the world’s most expensive Air Uber…

Vengeance is in the air as portraits of General Milley are hunted down, while real terrorists have been given a license to hunt on American soil.

Trump wants his foes dead. This is why he has stripped them of security, despite them facing death threats from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

The 27-year-old press secretary, married to a 59-year-old real estate developer and Jack LaLanne impersonator, wears her cross conspicuously, while lying like a Huckabee bred with a Spicer. She is a blustering version of Miss South Carolina 2007, who spews idiotic nonsense. Here is a case in point:

All nonsense.

Secretary Little Marco is in Panama declaring that “we’re going to take it [the canal] back, or something very powerful is going to happen.”

King Donald is waging economic war against Canada, and threatening military action against Mexico and Denmark.
He promised “winning,” but now promises 'pain' before “victory:”

Each day, less and less people will cheer for this madness. Until then, the only hope of stopping the spread of this constitutional crisis is to oppose the usurpation of power from the people into the hands of unelected oligarchs.

Trump is attempting to stoke a response so that he may have a reason to restrict liberties across America. It’s at that instant we will climb to the next level of crisis.

Soon people will be on the streets protesting, and soon the bet made by the tech oligarchs will explode in their faces. Until then, the American people are saddled with the hapless and the helpless, like Chuck Schumer and Tim Kaine, leading the early response.

Schumer thinks tying himself to the train tracks is the thing to do.

Tim Kaine, when asked the following by Jake Tapper, said the following:

Tapper: “Why is your party so staggeringly unpopular with the public?”
Kaine: “Jake, you know me - I'm a Virginian. I know one state well and not so well the other 49.”

He then pivoted to speaking about how the Democrats in Virginia focused on the economy to gain support:

We focus on competent government and running the economy in a great big way that focuses on innovation and advancing. We want to make it here, we want to build it here and in ag and forestry, we want to grow it here. Let's return to the bread and butter basics that people want to rally focus on.

Ok. Beautiful. Very inspiring.

I would like to see a group of American governors and Canadian officials standing together and fighting for our shared values and for peace, prosperity and freedom on the North American continent. This should be the first week of fighting back, but sadly, it’s likely to be another week of retreat and submission. Trump is on the march. Americanism is retreating.

Soon though, there will be a moment when we all decide not to take one more step backward. When that day comes, the beginning of MAGA’s end will be at hand. Until then, the disaster is just beginning.

Who will stand up?

Everywhere there is silence.

^ The Dems are 100% complicit in this. They think they are personally immune and are taking the 'Let's watch Trump Blow Himself Up' approach where politics is more important than policy and protecting the Country.

It is not a Country for Old Men. These feeble poli-whores make this point clear every single day.

The Democratic Party has to find a leading voice and it has to start shouting loudly.

Meanwhile....this week's country on Musk's Aryan shitlist that TrumpCo. is going to war with is South Africa. Oddly enough, I didn't even know that the US had any influence in this BRICS backwater. I thought they had signed on with China and RRRzzzia completely.

So they might just tell MuskCo. Fuck your face.

Oh. And the irony. It fucking burns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And what of Israel?
I couldn't even bring myself to mention the Trump sanctioned theft of Gaza by Israel.

But we can also likely toss in his solution to Ukraine which will be to let the USSR 2.0 keep all the land they have stolen as well.

My irony burns are 3rd degree sitting here.

I don't think Putin will make any deal until Ukraine is out of Russia.

Even if he did, he wouldn't abide by it anyway.

I disagree that the dems need to fight back or shout loudly, politics 101 says give him his rope then stand back and watch. I don’t know how long the Trump shit show will continue for but democrats have warned and impeached Trump and have little to show for it. As frustrating as it is the are playing the best card in their hand. The strategy you propose has failed and allowing him to have his way will end in his failure.

Voters have to turn on Trump because of what he does and how it affects them and not because democrats say he’s a really bad man. I wish it weren’t so but I believe it is.

And I respectfully disagree. This is exactly what opposition parties did in Germany and more recently in other countries taken over by dictators and autocrats.

At the moment, there is no indication of a cohesive or coherent strategy by the Democrats to fight back hard on behalf of all the non-billionaire class.

Until today's pushback on USAID, they have appeared feckless and even disinterested. Their support of Trump's nominees is sickening.

We need to see them out there and loud.

Remember this story when California is rationing water later this year and farmers are complaining about not having water for crops in the summer:

The US Army Corps of Engineers opened two dams on Friday in Central California and let roughly 2.2 billion gallons of water flow out of reservoirs, after President Donald Trump ordered the release with the misguided intent to send water to fire-ravaged Southern California.

Trump celebrated the move in posts to Truth Social post on Friday and Sunday, declaring, “the water is flowing in California,” and adding the water was “heading to farmers throughout the State, and to Los Angeles.”

There are two major problems, water experts said: The newly released water will not flow to Los Angeles, and it is being wasted by being released during the wet winter season.

So I just learned what Trump's order to create a sovereign wealth fund is all about.

They are about to divert funds from the treasury to invest in TIK TOK.

Say goodbye to Medicare and hello to dance videos.

See, when the VP at work comes up with a stupid idea that causes all kinds of problems and solves nothing, we tell him it’s a good idea and we go about finding the solution. A week later he’s all happy and we took care of the problem. I suggest the government start doing the same thing.

Flashback to 2020. Trump negotiates a rapid withdrawal from Afghanistan (remember when he said he wanted to invite the Taliban to the US to sit down and talk?).

Flash forward to 2024 and Senator Marsha Blackburn (falsely) claims that the US left $80 billion in equipment in Afghanistan and the US should get their equipment back. She and another Republican members of Congress say that the Biden Administration is responsible for leaving the equipment, even though Trump's deal with the Taliban specified that the US would be out of Afghanistan by 15-Jan-2021 - 5 days before Biden became President.

So, guess what Mango Mussolini is asking the Taliban for?

President-elect Donald Trump says that future financial assistance to Afghanistan will be contingent upon the return of U.S. military equipment by the Taliban leaders currently in power...

A report issued by the U.S. Department of Defense in 2022 revealed that approximately $7 billion worth of military equipment was left behind in Afghanistan following the completion of the military withdrawal. The equipment in question, which included aircraft, air-to-ground munitions, military vehicles, weapons, communications equipment, and other materials, was subsequently seized by the Taliban.

The de facto Afghan rulers have since repeatedly displayed the U.S. military gear in their so-called victory day celebrations over the past three years.
Sounds tough, eh? Well, China has noticed that Afghanistan has a lot of minerals and low labor costs. China would love for Afghanistan to be their Greenland and they have lots of money to pay the Taliban for mineral rights.

The Taliban says "No. It's our equipment now". They also want to do more deals with Trump since they got such a great deal back in 2020:
Taliban leaders appear publicly optimistic about a favorable shift in U.S. policy under the Trump presidency, attributing this to their Doha pact with his previous Trump administration. Kabul promptly welcomed Trump’s election victory just one day after he was declared the winner of the United States presidential vote.

And Elon's toying with USAID and Trump's EO on Afghan refugees has put Afghan allies still Afghanistan in limbo... another broken campaign promise.

*sigh*

When will they learn? It's the grift. Always the grift. They're paying the felon's fines.

Meme coins plummeted over the weekend as President Donald Trump signed long-threatened tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China, kicking off a trade war that caused investors to dump risk assets worldwide.

Trump’s own meme coin, dubbed Official Trump, which launched a little more than two weeks ago, was last down 15% to $17, according to CoinGecko. It rallied to a high of about $73 the weekend of its launch before crashing 50% on Inauguration Day.

The biggest and most popular meme coins, dogecoin and Shiba Inu, lost about 14% each. Pudgy Penguins was down 13%, while dogwifhat tumbled 26%.

Meme coins as a group have dropped 17% over the past 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.

They won't. In their minds it will always Be conspiracies to destroy them. No doubt this will be Nancy's fault, or Biden's or Obamas, because once you release your hold on reality nothing is absurd anymore.
Explain this to me: they were whining about being broke during the pandemic. Where is all this money that they are transferring to Trump coming from? Or is the whole thing just a way to launder campaign donations and funnel the bribes to Trump & his henchmen?

And this is a strategy used by autocrats: remember when Presidents routinely put their personal financial interests into a blind trust?

Trump broke that norm in 2017 and now no one even talks about the issues with a President who is running a full-time grift on the side while in elected office receiving a taxpayer-funded salary.

When we make up foreign policy based upon the whims and riffing of a 78 year old felon.

Real estate developer in a china shop

President Donald Trump, who said he wanted to end Middle East wars, is stumbling toward a dangerous new entanglement with his talk of expelling Palestinians from Gaza and seizing the territory for the United States.

Concerns about the jaw-dropping proposal were so swift and sharp on Wednesday that White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt rushed to clarify that Trump didn’t plan to pay for that project or send in U.S. troops. If that’s true — and no other country in the region appears ready to offer financial or military support — then the proposal is the foreign policy equivalent of an empty suit.

Reaction to Trump’s Gaza scheme rumbled like thunder across the Middle East. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates issued quick statements rejecting it. Jordanian sources told me that small protests have already begun there.

The Gaza bombshell is also creating worries about domestic protests or worse in the United States. The Department of Homeland Security sent a chilling message to state and local law enforcement officials at 12:14 a.m. Wednesday, about five hours after Trump’s remarks, warning about possible dangers because of “changes to the U.S. posture in the region.”

Meanwhile, Jewish son-in-law Jared Kushner is out talking about how Gaza would make a great beach-side resort. And how "we" can just move the Palestinians out to the desert to make way for the hoi polloi to have a nice Mediterranean vacation. Kushner has a $2 billion Saudi investment fund behind him.

“Gaza’s waterfront property — it could be very valuable, if people would focus on building up livelihoods,” Kushner said during an event at Harvard.

“It’s a little bit of an unfortunate situation there, but I think from Israel’s perspective, I would do my best to move the people out and then clean it up,” Kushner added. “But I don’t think that Israel has stated that they don’t want the people to move back there afterward.”

It does drip with irony that the guy who wants to build a wall to keep people out of his country is happy to foist other people into countries that don’t want them.
