Trump to Resume Rallies...in Tulsa...on Juneteenth

No question but that the media exploited Trump in 2016 as novelty intended to capture eyeballs.

And no question that even CNN is much tougher on the TrumpCo. bobbleheads appearing on their programs.

And in fairness, I see a lot less wall to wall coverage of TrumpCo.

But i do worry that with the White House strategy of taking up all the oxygen in the room....they may still do what they did in 2016...spend all their time focusing on the noise and missing out on the substance.

I'm not sure how many agents there are in the Secret Service who do the preparations for these little CoronaRallies ("low side of dozens"?), but if they're all going to have to quarantine for 14 days after each rally, there may not be enough agents for these rallies.

Dozens of Secret Service agents will be quarantined after Trump's Tulsa rally [CNN]
Dozens of Secret Service agents will be quarantined as a precaution following President Donald Trump's rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a law enforcement official told CNN on Wednesday.

The mass quarantine has led to the decision that Secret Service agents involved with presidential trips must be tested for coronavirus for the next couple of weeks, according to an email sent to agency personnel. The email sent out Wednesday was confirmed by the law enforcement official. Agents must now be tested 24 to48 hours before a presidential trip, the email said. The new testing mandate will be in place until July 4.

The law enforcement official said the number of quarantined agents is on the "low" side of dozens. A Secret Service official said the quarantining will not impact the agency's operations. The news was first reported by The Washington Post.

hmmmmmmmmmmm.

So that means that they might just end up using mall security cop wannabes instead?

Every crisis is also opportunity.

Every crisis is also opportunity.

Except these are the guys that do perimeter security- checking for bombs, ensuring there are metal detectors, screening local people who might be a risk, etc.

The Secret Service starts their assessments weeks before events which is why they have been frustrated with a President that doesn't schedule events with enough advance time and insists on using a non-secure phone.

Barr's mall cops don't have those skills.

I saw something last week that said that Trump was going to call out 250 national guards in Tulsa to assist with security. I don't know whether this ever happened, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the use of more of Bill Barr's cops or military being used for his campaign appearances.

So now it seems that the management of the Tulsa center had followed CDC guidelines putting 'Don't sit here, Please' stickers on seats in the venue to encourage social distancing requirements. The Trump campaign staff tried to stop them from doing so and then sent people through the arena prior to letting the public in to remove all the stickers. The Campaign is saying this didn't happen but the Washington Post has video of the staffers pulling the stickers off the seats.

Reporter at Trump’s Tulsa rally tests positive for COVID-19 [AP]
A journalist who attended President Donald Trump’s rally in Tulsa last week said Friday he has tested positive for COVID-19.

Oklahoma Watch reporter Paul Monies said he was notified Friday of his positive diagnosis...

Monies said he was inside the rally for about 6 hours on Saturday at the BOK Center and that he wore a mask and mostly practiced social distancing, except for when he went to the concourse to get a snack. He said he was never close to the president.

Doctors began to worry when Mr Cain, 74 year old cancer survivor, was found to have a temperature of 999.

Herman Cain is receiving treatment for coronavirus at an Atlanta hospital [CNN]
Former 2012 Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is receiving treatment for coronavirus at an Atlanta-area hospital, according to a statement posted to his Twitter account.

Cain, a contributor for conservative media outlet Newsmax, was hospitalized Wednesday "after he had development symptoms serious enough that he required hospitalization" and was informed Monday that he tested positive for the virus...

Cain, as a co-chair of Black Voices for Trump, was one of the surrogates at President Donald Trump's June 20 rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

^ Me thinks this is only the tip of the berg to come out of that rally.

At least 15 Secret Service agents from Tulsa have switched from quarantine to isolation because they got infected. They drove back to DC so that they didn't infect any other people.

Oh, and 8 from Pence's Secret Service detail are stuck in a Phoenix hotel because they got infected doing prep work for Pence's trip to Arizona to tell the Arizona governor what a great job he's doing now that 87,445 Arizonans are infected and 1,764 have died.

Coming soon: Secret Service agent infections for Trump's Make American Infected Again party at Mt Rushmore this weekend.

At least 8 Secret Service agents stuck in Phoenix with coronavirus after Pence trip [CNN]
At least eight Secret Service agents are currently holed up in a hotel in Phoenix, some suffering the flu-like coronavirus symptoms after coming down with the disease while preparing for a visit by Vice President Mike Pence, two people familiar with the matter say.

Last month, up to 15 agents who tested positive for the virus loaded into cars and drove themselves home, avoiding flights after becoming infected while preparing for President Donald Trump's campaign rally, according to another source familiar with the situation.

And in South Dakota, agents have been on the ground for days preparing for Trump's visit to Mount Rushmore -- but also for what some view as the inevitability that one or many of them will contract the virus.

So he is killing his own fans for shits and giggles - or maybe he thinks it is "worth it" to get the applause.

I keep thinking of this meme when I read these stories of dump and pence "on the road" - it felt kinda dirty liking it before but now - ummmmm

Darwin - shhh! - I've got this

Guess what happened?

Tulsa sees Covid-19 surge in the wake of Trump's June rally [CNN]
he city of Tulsa is experiencing a surge in coronavirus cases, a little over 2 weeks after President Donald Trump held a campaign rally in an indoor arena there.
Dr. Bruce Dart, Executive Director of the Tulsa Health Department, said in a press conference on Wednesday there are high numbers being reported this week, with nearly 500 new cases in two days and trends are showing that those numbers will increase.

There had been a 20% decline in new Covid-19 cases the week of June 28 through July 4.

The Tulsa Health Department reported 266 new cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number in the county to 4,571. There are 17,894 cases in Oklahoma and 452 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University's tally of cases in the United States.

When asked if the cases in Tulsa are going up due to the rally on June 20, Dart said that there were several large events a little over two weeks ago.

^ I suppose the media is obliged to attend and cover a WH press conference, but is there any obligation to stay after Trump launches into 'rally' mode? They should just pack up and leave.
