And every tweet he makes is covered by ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, The New York Post and every news agency on the planet. Every single American hears every word he says. I think it's smart because that way his words aren't filtered through the MSM, who obviously want to be the exclusive harbingers of their brand of news.

That's what I saw in the article, too -- the press is pissed that they're not in control.

As for the media picking up his Tweets, they invariably do it in a disparaging way. They are not applauding his ingenuity and practicality. And, since most of his Tweets are bitching and complaining, they don't show The Donald in a very good light. The Tweets make him look like the school boy bully that he is.

He is not presidential material. He does everything in a most unpresidential way.

If the middle and bottom of your post weren't true, the top would be fantastic -- neither the press nor protocol own the president, and it's good for them to be reminded of that from time to time. But he's likely clueless about that aspect.

The problem with tweets is the problem with tweets.

They are 140 character sound bites without substance or nuance.

They are barked out exclamations and proclamations devoid of context or any real thought 99% of the time.

This is the real problem as we've seen with Trump.

And they can have very real and very dangerous consequences.

Dictators and Tyrants are infamous for this kind of behaviour, Short pronouncements and slogans that excite their base and create turmoil and uncertainty and fear. Trump has been notorious over the last year for this. And as he comes to power, it is clear that he intends on using Twitter as a cudgel to punish his 'enemies' and to threaten anyone who crosses him in any way.

Basically, it is like a leader having his own media company that can spin every event his way.

But the Americans have become so enamoured with shallowness and anti-intellectualism that they will lap it up. While his tweets are being discussed and dissected, the country will not be paying attention to what his cabal are really doing.

Well that is one of the stupidest ways you could have made your point.

They are both simple truth...one is not the alternate truth.

What you are arguing is that there is some kind of pejorative to the news presented through the media. And that Alternate truth is somehow coloured by the filter of the media to put a more or less positive spin on the facts in order to influence the reader.

And maybe there is. People have always used media to filter events to suit the editorial policy and politics.

This notion that media should somehow be unbiased is ridiculous. It is the very fact of bias that results in investigative journalism.

And you can bypass media. And you can try to control it.

But in the digital age....that is increasingly difficult as even the merest event or utterance is now the focus of fact-checking and analysis by professional journalists and amateur bloggers alike.
