  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

TV shows that jumped the shark and just won't go away.

^Wow, we must be running out of names for shows if there is one called Mom and another called Dad(s) premiering in the same cycle.

And yeah, I watched Dads... love love LOVE Seth Green, but that show will be lucky to have a full season.

I also saw Maury was mentioned - I am amazed that Jenny Jones, Ricki Lake(1st run) and others in that ilk were canceled easily for being one-or-few-trick ponies, but Maury is still on when the only thing he does are paternity tests now. He jumped the shark, shot it, bit into it, fucked it, cooked it, and jumped it again by now.

Maury has perfected the paternity test.

I loved The Soup and it probably peaked a few years ago. Now it's just a way for unfunny guests to promote their shows and movies and for Joel to ego-trip with lame material. Love the guy but the show isn't funny because of him.

Big Bang Theory

Girls (after two season no less!)

The Following (after ONE season.... fastest jump I've ever seen)

And finally...... True Blood (the most guilty offender. Thank god its ending soon!)

The sad part was if they'd just followed the books I think they would have been fine.

He went massively off the rails starting with season 2 (he took what was literally a one-paragraph part of the second book and created the entire 2nd season out of it) and it just strayed further and further after that.

No actor is irreplaceable. On Bewitched they changed Darrin's, Mrs. Kravitz, and Larry Tate's wife. On the Batman TV show in the 60's they had multiple women play Catwoman, and in the Batman, Spiderman, Superman movies there's a different actor in every one, practically.

This is where I get myself in trouble. I thought Borg was talking about my second half of the post re: 'amazing they find someone to fill the role'
I thought Borg's comment mentioning Bewitched . . . he was addressing that. Then I realized he was talking about Corey Montieth.
Blond moment

I love Big Bang Theory.

I see Michael J Fox show used 'talking to the camera' as they do in Modern Family.

There are about 7 new cast members that are joining Saturday Night Live. I am tired of the show but when they get a great character and show it often, thats what I like. For example, Kristen Wiig as Gilly, Target cashier; Molly Shannon as Mary Katherine Gallagher; Dana Carvey as the Church Lady. Thats what makes Saturday Night Live watchable, otherwise no thanks

New cast

I didnt realize until now it was beginning tonight. We'll see. Tina Fey hosts

Miley Cyrus hosts week 2.

For me, it stopped being funny when Adam Sandler was on. That's when I quit watching it. I think Will Ferrell was on at the same time and the show switched to sophomore humour.
