Twilight is Fucking Ridiculous....

attachment.php

^I laughed at this much, much more raucously than I should have.

Every year, since we were 15, my friends and I have gone to see a movie on Christmas Eve. This will be the 18th year in a row. We've seen some gems as our Christmas movie (The Nightmare before Christmas; LotR: The Fellowship of the Ring) and some complete shit (Deck the Halls; Surviving Christmas). As a result, I try to push for non-family movies as our Christmas movie because the family ones are usually shit.

With Christmas Movie day just 32 days away my feelings on Twilight can be summed up thus, taken verbatim from an email exchange earlier this week: "My choice for this year's movie would obviously be DayBreakers, which is about vampires. But the decent, violent, murderous, horror ones. Not the nerdy, overromanticised, Twilight sparkly rubbish ones."

Hey, we as gay men should understand the how's and why's the females would love this, or maybe I am in the true minority for understanding the whole Bella/Edward thingy! lol

I think the movie is spot-on when it comes to appealing to the sexes and all, for I know that I am actually liking to watch the guys!!!(*8*)

It's not that we don't understand...We understand Women Love "Chick Flicks" that feature HOT-half naked Dudes...We get that....Having to sit in a theatre surrounded by Teenage Little Girls & their Mommies is the problem..

Bella is the ultimate Mary Sue, and is indicative of Stephanie Meyer's total lack of talent.

It's not that girls can relate to Bella, it's that they want to be her: Young woman moves to new town and is instantly adored, idolized, fawned over, etc. The fact is that Stephanie Meyer is an overweight soccer mom from East Jesus Nowhere who decided to parlay her erotic fantasies into a lucrative career as an author of shoddily-written, glorified fanfic.

Oh, and she's referred to herself a devout Mormon, so she probably wouldn't appreciate her name being uttered by sexual deviants such as us.

PPS: "Beautiful Swan"? I mean, really.

I must be the only fag that actually loved the movie. lol

No the movies are better than the books!

Me and a friend have been making our own cast list. Get rid of all this Robert Pattinson nonsense.

I sorta liked the first movie--at least I thought it had potential. So, I picked up the book...and I did finish it...but Meyers needs to work on her craft a bit.

I went to a special screening before the public had a chance to see it. I had never seen "Twilight" so seeing "New Moon" was my chance to see what all the fuss was about.

I thought it was simply over-rated. Not horrible, not bad, but fair. I prefered the werewolves more than the vampires. Great bodies on those guys!

The acting was mediocre, but the scenery was beautiful.

Took in a heck of a lot money over the weekend, which means it made a lot of profit. This is a low budjet movie for sure, so good for the producers to make crazy money in bad economic times.

When we got out of the auditorium, this particular theatre was showing a midnight movie on 5 huge screens, and I bet most were full. The parking lot looked like Xmas at the mall on Xmas Eve. And this was a Thursday night. Does anyone go to work or school on Fridays??? That moive got out at about 2:30 in the morning.

1) Woman here. Hate Chick Flicks. Like Twilight out of sheer coincidence. I'm a vampire fan, and the story hit me at the right time.

2) I went on Friday to a 12:40PM showing in the heart of Los Angeles and my theater was filled with all different people. Many of them men and young guys (teen guys) and none of the teen girls in attendance screamed or lost control.

So...more stereotypes. Fun times.

Saying Women Flock to "Chick Flicks" more than Men is not a stereotype it is a Fact...Men Flock to Sci-Fi Action Flicks in droves..It is what it is and it will never change..

I don't consider Teenage girls as "Adult Women"....Teeny-bopper girls will Flock to this film in higher numbers than teenage boys..The first film is proof of that...

Like I said earlier I will probably check the flick out because of the "trailers"..I'd rather go on a weekday before Thanksgiving break than on a weekend because of the drooling teens & Mommies...

Oh, and for the record, there is no such thing as a "great writer." Tolkien couldn't write dialogue to save his life and Rowlings couldn't describe a brick wall. King can't write four lines without mentioning blood and Poe was so emo it hurt.

And Stephanie Meyer can't write convincing characters and a plot. I'd rather be plagued by the flaws you listed above than the ones that Meyer has.

I've been enjoying this thread. I haven't seen any of the movies and I'm just starting the third book. There's a few bright spots in them but there's a lot of long and tedious sections as well. Bella's constant whining and whimpering. I can see why Bella would want Edward. he's young, handsome, has eternal life and can give her the same thing. What does he see in her? Like others have said, she smells like VERY good food and he can't read her little mind. Other vampires thinks she smells tasty but they just want to eat her. ..|
I just don't see why women are so crazy about her. She is so sickening (sorry to the people who love ole Bella). Think about it. She'd refuse to go to sleep just to look at Edward's face. His smell is soooo intoxicating. I guess no showers for Edward. Bella is even obsessed with the other vamps. Alice smells good as well. Bella would sniff at her also. In a way it is kind of rediculous.
Buffy would stake them all, including Bella for being so creepy.

LMAO, a teacher back at my old high school apparently called in sick to go see the premiere!!!!!

I have a firm dislike for Twilight, book and film. Terribly written, badly acted, stuffed with unnecessarily sappy content. Refuse to sit through a film nor will I open one of the books - read about one chapter from the first book, that was enough for a lifetime.

Speaking which, I made fun of a good looking teacher (female) who was reading Twilight on the subway. I asked her "Isn't that the book where this guy rapes a 16 year old?" Because a relationship between a 107 year old and a 16 year old is rape. Remember. This.

Twilght disturbs me !
it distttuuurrrrbbbsss meeee!
DDDDIIIIISSSSTTTTUUURRRRBBBBSSS MEEEEE!

As a man, you know nothing about women.

As a man, you know nothing about teenaged girls.

Bella is a typical teenage female. Her world is dramatic, and she wants the guy that's just all wrong for her.

Hate it all you want but hate it for better reasons. Bella's need for Edward is real and true to some women and I can attest to being in that position. Often. Never running from the one that's gonna rip my heart out and stomp it to bits, only rejecting the ones that aren't going to hurt me.

The love story is pretty dead on in the world of a young woman.

gotta say, you handled that better than i'd have expected. don't take this the wrong way but soon as i saw the thread, i said to myself, "Stacy's gonna lose her damn mind..."

personally i really don't get the craze either. it's weird, because i think if i actually took the time to read the books, or watch the movies, i'd probably really enjoy them. it's actually everyone else going crazy over it that turns me off of it.

i DO have to admit, that i'm finally kinda catching on to why RP get's sweated so much. still think he's way overrated, but he's caught my eye more than once lately.1st in your sig pic, then on a special E! aired: "10 Vampires We Love". my pick would've been Vampire Diaries' "Damon" or Buffy's "Spike"--who i can't believe didn't make the list.
