I've been thinking about this case. If a gay couple could get beaten so badly in a gayborhood in Philly, then my boyfriend/partner and I aren't really as safe as we've assumed.

PS - I can't wait to see how they will pull off a self-defense case LOL.

hmmm...just as I (kinda) suspected, "self-defense" claims are already being thrown around by the suspects.

Interesting approach to make it federal: they used federally-funded transportation to get there.

Which one? The only thing I can think of is that alien tech from star trek voyager where Tom Paris was accused of murder. The aliens had the tech to transfer the victim's last memory into the perpetrator's head.

Or perhaps from the voyager episode where a beacon at a site of a military tragedy caused Nelix, Chakotey, and Kim to relive the night when some alien military group mistakenly committed mass murder... or something like that.

It will be easy to stop defending whites when the imputation of racism stops. That topic was irrelevant to the attack when it was brought up by numerous posters before I came to the thread. They're white. They're together.

No one's surprised when a group of jocky white guys exhibits homophobic behavior. No one's surprised when large gaggles of white people exhibit Diet Racist attitudes. The fact that homophobia can be found in other communities doesn't change the lack of surprise.

Can't honestly be bothered all that much if that bugs you, some of us see and deal with it on a daily basis. In a big mixed city if someone hangs out with large crowds of all-white people, it generally tells you something about their attitudes, however veiled they may be.

It's all too happy to welcome all sorts of bigoted remarks that would never be allowed in a prosecution, but easily leveled with no challenge from those allegedly championing justice here. It looks more like simple factionalism seeking revenge, which has none of the virtue of justice.

As it is a gossip that encourages a vigilanteeism of sorts, at least in presuming guilt of a group pictured, it is a gossip that encourages injustice.

Adrian and I have chatted via comments, and it is not his intent. The others posting indictments of the larger group are essentially accusing with no valid basis.

The eight deserve to go down for their attack, the rest, are not valid targets of scorn.

I would wait to hear what the friends say about it before I came to that conclusion. Sometimes silence says a lot more than any words they say. Have any of them mentioned it?

Yeah dude there's a terrible rash of people hunting down and taking vigilante action on white people across the U.S. I don't know why the Yankee-dominated media is focusing so much on unarmed black college students being gunned down compared to the real problem.
