The Ontario Human Rights Tribunal has ordered a downtown Toronto restaurant to pay $10,000 to a Black man after ruling it discriminated against him by asking the man and his three friends, all Black, to prepay for their meals.

In her ruling released earlier this month, adjudicator Esi Codjoe found Hong Shing Chinese Restaurant discriminated against Emile Wickham, writing in her decision that he “was presumed to be a potential thief in waiting despite any evidence to that effect.”

Here stateside, a restaurant is coming under [STRIKE]fire[/STRIKE] a mild flame after a manager called the cops on a black couple for refusing to give up their table for a white customer. Sound familiar? And let me spare a few of you the carpal tunnel with a few facts;

-the couple was not belligerent
-the couple was already seated and had several drinks and were about to order food when they were asked to give up their table
-the couple voluntarily left before the police arrived
-by the manager's own words, on video, they were asked to leave "because he doesn't like them"
-the manager called the police because they were "trespassing," even though they were paying customers
-the man was not a bum or a delinquent or cheapskate, he is a famous motivational speaker and was a regular customer who bought out the bar several times

A shocking video shows a white manager of a Plano, Texas, restaurant making a blatant attempt to kick out a Black couple after they refused to give up their seat to a white customer.

Activist Shaun King posted the unsettling video showing a restaurant manager at Sambuca 360 yelling at Johnny Wimbrey, a popular motivational speaker who has appeared on The Steve Harvey Show, as he sat with his wife to have dinner and drinks at the Plano Texas location.

And cue the "Well we don't know what happened before the camera started rolling" in t-minus 5...4...3....

The only people who have a problem with me, coincidentally, have a well-documented history of inflammatory posts against people of color. For that matter, G-Lex, Lucky, Rareboy, Lilbit, Gsdx, numerous members and I have not seen eye to eye on certain things and, strangely, they don't have a problem with me. Strike one Cormy

So, that gives them the right to discriminate? If you haven't noticed, discrimination is illegal in Canada. And the problem is that they were the only black people in the restaurant and they were the only people asked to pay before the meal was even served.

And you forget that McDonalds and Burger King are not restaurants. When was the last time you went into a restaurant and were asked to prepay before you even ate the meal? My guess would be 'never'. I bet if the owners of that restaurant went into a 'Canadian-food' restaurant and were asked to prepay when all the white people paid after their meal, they would be shouting 'discrimination' at the top of their lungs.

I do not think this is racism.
Its about whether the customer can pay or not and the owner thought the customer cannot and might do the runner. That is why the owner ask for prepay.
