Everytime I watch her "reality" show top model, even when she's trying to come across as nice she always seems like she's bullying the other girls. That episode where she literally started yelling at the skinny black girl in front of everyone for example was quite hard to watch. Other cutting remarks she makes, she fobs the girls off with each time "i'm just getting you ready for the real world!" which is frankly a load of bullshit. If someone starts yelling at you in the real world or makes a cutting remark about the way you look, you have a choice over how you react. On that show though the girls all look up to and in my opinion FEAR this woman so just stand there and take whatever she has to say and say thank you each time. I'm not criticising the show as it has it's appeal from an entertainment perspective but the way Tyra goes about making the show sometimes makes me question her true intentions.
 
That's why she has been dubbed the nickname "Tyrant."

I love Top Model. It's so bad it good. I'll have to give credit to Miss Tyra; she's created a great show that has a cult following, regardless of whether the winners actually end up becoming "Top Models." But that episode from Cycle 4 when she yells at Tiffany in front of everyone is infamous. And I think that's the exact point when people started looking at Tyra differently. She's so self-important, and always focuses any situation on herself. From what I heard, tiffany was pissed at Tyra, but they made her say something nice on camera. I guess that's the benefit of producing your own show.

And watch how many times she contradicts herself. She'll tell a girl that her walk looks weird, but the next episode, tells her that she needs a signature walk, or something along those lines. Or the modeling industry needs more plus size models, and then proceeds to eliminate the larger girls for bullshit reasons. Or that so-and-so needs to turn down their personality, but the one day they act subdued, they get eliminated. The list goes on...
 
^ I know what you mean about her constantly contadicting herself on the show in order to show her authority over the girls. On some occasions i've compared the show to that of the gay bondage and s&m scene where there's subs (slaves) and doms (masters). Tyra clearly enjoys her role as master dominatrix. I'm suprised she hasn't slapped someone thus far....
 
Her self-idolization grows worse every season. I know she already believes she's the most beautiful woman on Earth but how long will it be before she proclaims herself a goddess?

 
Her bullying only proves her insecurity. She knows that in a few years there will be many girls much prettier and younger than herself. I haven't seen any display of acting ability to amount to anything so when the sun begins to set on her youth, she is washed up.

She may be harsh, but she's usually right. The modelling industry is full of people more than willing to screw each other over to suceed, and they have a very small shelflife.

I watched a cycle 7 episode last night where one model was rude to the photographer and really pissed him off. They let her off, and they shouldn't have, had it've been a real situation her arse wouldn't have hit the floor on the way out.
 
I actually don't have a problem with her on Top Model.

Her talk show on the other hand...cringeworthy

It's always about Tyra. She has done everything, experienced everything, knows everything, ugh.

And how many times does she have to say that she's just like every other woman? No, Tyra, you're not. It's not a bad thing to be rich, famous, and beautiful. IMO, her constant attempts to relate to an everyday woman often come off as forced and phoney.
 
Lol, yea i think she's pretty rad. Although she does sometimes come off as a good actress, she does have her good points. For example, she's hotter than Naomi Campbell? And uh...I can tolerate her more than Naomi. At least she doesn't have fights with stewardesses and maids.
 
Every time she's about to vote someone out she's so damn shady. She'll say "One of you has potential but the judges don't see it and one of you has the weakest pictures in Top Model history, so who goes home?". She acts like such a Know it all.
 
So you're basing Trya being a bully, not from having actually met the woman which I don't think anyone here ever has, but from the way she is portrayed in the media, particularly her reality show?

Right, because we all know that's the way to go...
 
She's not really a bully. She's said many times before that she's really preparing the girls for the real modelling world. Top Model is nothing compared to the brutal comments & harsh realities of the real modelling business.

By the way, Tiffany did deserve to get yelled at that cycle. She easily could've been in the finals but for some reason she decided to give up on herself when every girl in that competition, including the judges, wanted so much for her to win. She was being really ungrateful for the opportunity.

Anyway, Tyra is the shit and Top Model is the best.....

P.S. I will never get tired of her "Well, when I was an 18 year old modelling in Paris....." stories LOL
 
I was having dinner at Sushi Samba in Union Square (N.Y.) and in comes Miss Tyra Banks. The first thing I noticed was that she was a big girl with a huge ass. She checked me out as I passed her table while walking to the Restroom. She had a mouthfull of sushi and was chomping away. Seriously,I'm sure that the first thing that everyone notices about her is that she is very tall and not skinny at all. i'm talking THICK! I enjoy watching her show Top Model but I find her daytime talk show to be lackluster.
