Ugly Betty

Ana Ortiz is my favorite character, she did awesome in the first episode of season 2.

I agree that the witers need to get a little more bold. Soap operas are supposed to have big plot changes and twists and turns, Ugly Betty has minimal drama but it always works itself out. Nobody dies, nothing changes, everything is routine. They also need to take more advantage of having NY as a backdrop now.

However, I don't think the show is as bad as some people are saying. Ugly Betty is one of the few shows that actually challenged society and breaks away from conformity, some of the issues they talk about on the show do NOT get attention anywhere else, like immigration, troubles with healthcare coverage, homosexuality, superficiality, racism, paternity (Amanda's search for her father), etc... Lots of people pretend those things away but Ugly Betty faces them head on.

I agree completely. While the show may not seem as attention-grabbing as it was before, it's still a great show. It still manages to keep me wanting more week to week, and that says something cause I get bored and sidetracked easily. But, I never miss an episode and usually always enjoy it.

I haven't watched this show in a LOOOOOOOOOONG time. I gotta do some updating!

Spoiler Alert: Two Ugly Betty Stars Are Leaving
By Kristin Dos Santos
Mon Jan 12, 11:30 AM PST

According to sources, one of Ugly Betty's main castmembers (a regular since season one) has asked to leave the ABC series, and producers are now planning to write her out toward the end of this season. Ruh-roh.

And that's not all: I'm told another character you know and love is going to be killed off this season.

So which two characters are leaving? Here's the exclusive dish...

According to sources connected to the series, the fantastic Ashley Jensen, who plays Betty's BFF Christina and is also well-known to you Extras fans, is the series regular who is expected to leave Ugly Betty this season.

I'm told Ashley asked to be released from her contract; the show's rep declined to comment, saying ABC does not comment on actors' contracts.

According to a source who works on the show, Ashley is not expected back as a series regular for Betty's fourth season in the fall. No word yet on how her character will make her exit—as you fans know, she's currently knocked up with Wilhelmina's spawn in order to get money to help save her husband's life. And of course, anything is possible on this show.

As for the second character who will be killed off, it's someone who just came on board this season and whom the fans—and a certain Meade—fancy.

Guesses? The comments are all yours for the taking!

I just heard that Bush has asked all the networks for a one hour prime time slot to give his last,"it's been fun but I'm leavin now, speech.
He wants Thursday at 8 which as we know is Betty's time slot
What that fool is gonna babble on and on about for a whole hour is anyone guess. Hopefully ABC will find a spot for Betty on Thursday, or better yet just tell George, sorry dude, that's Betty's hour.

oh HEEEEEELL no!! He already gave a press conference. Nobody cares beyond that there, Mr. self-pity is "pathetic."

I sure dont wanna make this thread about Bush,
but, YOU GOT THAT RIGHT

He is all about "aw come on now, I wasn't that bad"

Now back to Ugly Betty :D

Just a heads up about what I read today

Ugly Betty is being put on hiatus starting March 26 and replaced with episodes of Samantha Who? and the new Megan Mullally-Cheryl Hines comedy
In the Motherhood. Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Betty will return following the run of In the Motherhood and Samantha Who?”

An ABC spokesperson said “The Thursday night block is a good opportunity to launch these comedies. That said, Betty is a solid performer and there is no question that it will definitely be back to complete its season, just without repeats.”

That means Betty could return sometime in June. That’s four months :(

Haha, Marc & Amanda continue to have some of the best lines

Betty: I having nothing from Mrs. Mead's friends for her surprise party
Amanda: Oh Betty, I'll give you one - Hi Mrs. Mead, happy birthday. YOU MURDERED MY MOTHER!

Willie: "Throw the bird out the window!"
Marc: "But thats bir-der."

Marc (to the bird): "I love Pra-da. I love Gucci. I love Oscar Lorenzo Fall 2009"

Looks like they are sending this show to die. It is on Friday nights. It starts tonight by the way.

Well I have seen the first 3 episodes, not crazy about it but still love it. I think that they should move Justin to a private "art" school or whatever.

Aww, Justin had his first kiss tonight. Then he kissed a boy, and the real fireworks started. I'm glad that the writers didn't pursue the whole Justin being straight angle.

The gay guy on Dawson's Creek kissed his boyfriend at the senior prom.

The actor's themselves were actually both in their 20s.

I think "Justin" is also over 18 and am presuming the other actor is as well.

I'm not sure about the other actor, but the young man who plays Justin, Mark Indelicato, is still only 15.

Yeah. This kiss was pretty groundbreaking, and I'd actually I'd blog-read (here and here) that the casting call sheet for Mark's love interest, "Austin" (won by actor Ryan McGinnis) read like this not only for realism but the speculation was to avoid any underage-minor (Indelicato)-kissing-legal-adult controversy it might court:

"Male, to play 15-17, Caucasian, good-looking, great personality. MUST be a strong actor. Please only submit actors under 18."

I've only seen about half of this show's episodes in total. Someday on DVD I need to go back and revisit the complete run!
