Forgive me that I don't know the full story here, having only just heard the barest details in a report right now, but he gets arrested and put in the back of a van and at some point suffers MASSIVE spinal damage resulting in his death????

The allegation is that the police deliberately and premeditatively left him loose in the back, and then drove very erratically, KNOWING they were badly injuring him by throwing him around in the van.

Is that true?????

Is in not enough that the police are shooting them dead that they now must TORTURE them before killing them?

I mean I've heard many things, but THIS one, if true, has got to be, by far, the most shocking and disgraceful yet.

What level of dehumanisation of blacks from the police in the United States is going to be permitted?

State-sanctioned TORTURE? And exoneration of those involved?

COME ON. ENOUGH.
 
I guess only those in the police van know the truth, unless one of those guys is a member here i doubt you'll get your answer.

To put this in context, Baltimore is 64% black, with a black mayor and, no doubt a largely black police force. I have not seen the race of the police officers involved, but you should not assume they are white.
 
These are scary times. My roommates store was looted and the police evacuated the area he works in. There's no telling where the violence will spread to next.

Has there been any announcement of the races of the officers involved? Are people assuming they are white? I notice some media calling this "racial" unrest etc. i think many in the US and other countries are assuming white police are involved.
 
This whole country is racially charged and fucked. It's like Armageddon over here. Baltimore burns tonight and is now on curfew. Wtf?

I don't think race is the problem and the class struggle is as much between blacks of different classes as whites. The absurd unemployment rate and hopeless futures is the primary problem.
 
A friend of mine has just reported his grandmothers senior home has been set on fire. I fear the damage report in the morning.
 
Tens of millions of dollars has been paid in Baltimore for lawsuits involving excessive force---the police are killing unarmed people and it seems that this is going on all over the country---it seems that something needs to be done. You can start off with getting angry sadistic men off the force---and perhaps angry white guys who don't like a black president.

This is indeed a case of, "Black versus Blue" violence. Obviously a legacy of the ingrained, fraternal, formerly pervasive, de facto systemic racism, antagonism, and mutual mistrust that plagued Baltimore City & County Government & Law Enforcement, towards its own "ghettoized" minority impoverished populace, for most of the 20th century.

The "officials" (the figureheads of government and authority) may largely NOW be minorities, but they know EXACTLY whom they truly serve:

the top 4% (majority white) fat cats, plutocrats, movers and shakers (whom mostly come in from the well-to-do suburbs) that haven't pulled up financial and professional stakes from Downtown and the Inner Harbor, yet.

Meanwhile the number one priority of our black President is not jobs for blacks, but massive immigration of millions and millions of more unemployed willing to work cheap--and vote democrat.

There is no proof that it is going on all over the country. Hundreds of thousands, probably millions of arrests take place every year, many involving resistance by the arrestees. Since police are human too, it is inevitable that there will be abuses, and some will get big media attention. Seldom will the full truth become public, and politicians will exploit. Police should be trained and disciplined, but perfection will never be achieved. I see no reason to believe that broad generalizations are justified from the evidence available.
 
They are finding racist emails by cops etc in many police departments all over the country involving the president---the big "news" story in the city here is the sighting of coyote's all over neighborhoods in uptown Manhattan streets and parks---the cops seem to be able to take them into custody without killing them or breaking their backs. I know being a cop is a hard job but uncontrolled hatred and anger while arresting a suspect seems to be going on for may years and people know this---and thanks to camera's in phones is finally exposing the unprofessional cruelty.
