Sure we'll have serfdom -- we're starting to see it in Oregon already.
Of course they don't call it that; the liberals talk about rational land us and such, but what it means is that they tell the rural people what they can or can't do with their own land, where they can live, whether they can build new houses, what they can plant, what pests they have to allow even if it means going broke. Many rural people already feel like prisoners on their own land, and recognize that it isn't really theirs any more; they're just tenants who have to follow the dictates of the lord.
The way out is to leave, but then the rich people buy it up, and they put in hired folks who just take orders....
