If the duchess concerned was the Duchess of York, then all I'll say is that her calling her former husband stupid is a prime example of the pot calling the kettle black.

I don't live over there but no one here really knows or cares about him or his duties--so when this story broke if he had quietly just shut up and disappeared seems like a better strategy ---not like criminal charges were being brought against him.
