States in the US have been trying to restrict access to adult websites, using "protecting children" as a blanket justification for negating the Free Speech rights of the rest of the population. Most of these State-level bills that were passed through State Legislatures require that everyone prove their age in order to access adult images and videos from computers/phones inside each State where adult content has been banned. These laws were deemed Constitutional by the 6 conservative justices on the US Supreme Court (SCOTUS), in spite of previous decisions that protected Free Speech and our rights as citizens to view adult content.

These State laws are a pain-in-the-ass for everyone. Each State has a slightly different set of rules and requirements. The laws are largely ineffective in a society where children are highly computer-literate.

The outcome of the SCOTUS decision has impacted many adult websites which feature adult images and videos. These adult websites are either completely blocking access from States that have onerous age-verification requirements, like Louisiana and Texas, or the adult websites have required that users create accounts and provide some form of age verification to view the contents of the website. Pornhub, a site that features adult videos, has decided to block users whose internet address is in States have have invasive age-verification requirements. Other sites, like Reddit, are flagging images/videos that are "adult content" and then have users click on the image to attest that they are adults who wish to view adult content.

What does JUB plan to do in order to comply with these State laws?

JUB is not an ordinary adult site like Pornhub or like the adult video production studios (e.g. Men.com, Brazzers, et al). We are a discussion forum that covers a large variety of topics of interest to our community. While adult images can be shared in specific sections of the forum (e.g. The Backrooms), we are not an adult site in the traditional context. JUB also limits our membership to adults who are at least 18 years old.

We will be trying some new features out that are targeted to non-members and users viewing the site without signing in. These features are intended to limit access to adult images and videos. Members who have valid user accounts on JUB should not notice a change. JUB has always had a policy that we never sell the information of our members. We have always protected the information of our members. We have no plans to require members to provide identification- either by government ID, credit card or a third-party age verification system. The owners feel that this would be violation of members' privacy.

Changes that you may see in the next few weeks:
  • A message on the main forum page appears for users who are not signed in advising them to create an account in order to view the forum.
  • New members have always been required to enter their date of birth. The date of birth is reviewed by the forum software; persons under age 18 years old are not allowed to create accounts. If you have a JUB account, you attested that you are an adult. You should not see a change as long as you are viewing the forum while signed in.
  • Explicit content and frontal nudity are limited to specific forums, designated as "safe for work" and "not safe for work". We will be testing Add-ons that limit the ability of people who are not signed in to view adult images. There are some Add-ons that may blur attachments when a person viewing a thread is not signed in. There may be an option where a non-member can see a thumbnail but not be able to click on the image to enlarge it unless they sign in. Again, the important thing to know is that as long as you are signed into your account, these changes should not affect you.
  • We require an active email address for all members. If we have suspicion that a member is underage, we contact the member by email and DM to request proof of age, or we permanently ban the member.
  • In the future, some forums (e.g. The Backrooms) may not be visible to non-members and users viewing the forum who have not signed into their account. Currently, the Celebs forum is only available to registered users who are signed into a JUB account. Other areas in the Not-Safe-For-Work sections of the forum may require members to sign in to view these forums.

If you have specific questions about how this may affect you, you may reply to this thread or open a thread in Ask the Moderators.

These are the 25 States that have passed State laws restricting adult websites in their State. If you live in one of these 25 States, research whether your State representatives voted for restricting your Free Speech rights in supporting these bills. Don't re-elect anyone who votes against your rights.

I wonder what this will do to internet service providers. How will they pay for upkeep and expansion if no-one buys unlimited data? Will there even be a need for further expansion? LOL

And, no more after-school phone porn rush? Should we expect more school violence? More school shootings, perhaps?

I noticed a few sites have gone PG, which means they no longer show images with nudity or porn trailers. Queerclick is one such site. They only link to porn studio sites, who will likely require an age verification app or block your state entirely. Others apparently have not changed yet such as WayBig Blog, but no doubt they are about to. Welcome to the Fascist States of America. Big brother is really watching, it no longer only happens in fictional books and movies.

It sort of sounds like you are joking. But it is more serious than you might think. I am surprised not more people here are discussing it, as these recent laws will likely soon impact the majority of people signed up at JUB. Do they really not care? I wonder. Or do they think they live in a bubble which will not be impacted?

Many think VPN will be their savior, and so far it is for using some sites that are otherwise blocked. But state legislators are coming after VPN providers next, as well as ISPs. Some states are even considering banning VPN access entirely, for the sake of "protecting the children".

Not just US. UK has gone the same way

Yes, that is being talked about in the UK

Well, since the Religious Right is now openly in favor of big government, especially when it come to Big Brother in the bedroom, maybe we should figure out how to meete them half way. Although we know it's all about virtue signalling, they think they're saving their children.

Why not ask churches, mosques, and synagogues to submit a list of their members with their ISPs, phone numbers, and email accounts? The infomation could be collected in a natiional database, like the one used for fingerprints.

Then, develop a bot to crawl all the porn sites and aggregate the hits. Once a month, have a program send the churches a tattle sheet of all their members who have pinged on the porn sites. That way, the holiest can purge their ranks and protect their high ground.

Allegedly Vatican City has the highest gay porn hits per capita in the world

1) an independent source (not a news group acting as advocates
2) the allegation was that the Vatican had the highest (no pun intended) gay porn hits per capita, not a solitary example by an unknown user.

By your standard, finding an orderly snorting coke in a hospital makes all medical professionals addicts.

Over the weekend, the owner did a sunset of the old JustUsBoys (not the forum) website. The SCOTUS decision targeted pornographic images which impacted any adult website that featured erotic content or depictions of sexual activity. Like several of the websites mentioned in this thread, that focus upon age verification for viewing erotic content made it difficult to continue to host the galleries and content from adult studios which were publicly available.

Also implemented over the weekend was one of the changes mentioned in the opening post- there's now a reminder to register/sign in to continue viewing the forum if you haven't signed in.

I have a question out to the owner about some of the JUB galleries that several members have asked about. He's talking with the website designers about options to take advantage of the "media" section of the forum to make visual media available for users who enjoy more visual content.

Maybe jub should come home to canada.

Linkmeallover.ca anyone?

I was thinking that the first time I looked at this thread. LOL Decided it was too 'ancient history' to bring up to the current 'residents'.

Actually, several years ago I brought that up, and the guys (JD and Seth) who bought the site from Tony had forgot about it originally being/having a Canadian domain.

2003 is way back in the dust, now. You're old. LOL
