Id say just be happy with what you have right now. Continue to hang out and be best friends, but dont force anything on him obviously. Just hang out, and see if things happen. He seems to look up to you, or really really need you if he was so desperate to get ahold of you. I would just look elsewhere for someone to play around with, just be friends with him though. UNLESS HE does/says something.
 
hmmm i really wouldn't pursue it to be honest. he probably knows by now u have a thing for him and I think you should let him make the first move. You are very lucky to find a friend like him. Sex is great, but its really not worth it imo. If anything does happen you should also try make sure it doesn't turn into a "exploiting you for free blowjobs" thing.
