US Withdrawal from Afghanistan

Do you ask what the US or China use their money for ? ](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)
And we know the US use it to bloody terrorize other countries and most of them destroyed.

Let's not forget who fed the Taliban, and all the other terrorists in South America and elsewhere, governing or not, while it was deemed necessary to do so, not caring about the consequences for the future that they will not live to see, once they have become a myth and symbol of what you actually never were.

Well, you have to admit that the usual one-trick American comment on international politics is that they are the only ones who can save the world, and the only variations on that are either that they are going to do so, or that they are tired of being the ones doing it... ignoring the true worth of what they actually end up doing, but as long as they maintain the world-saving attitude they feel pretty assured and justified.
The Europeans are more zen about it: they stopped pretending they (or anyone else, for that matter) can make any difference anymore when it really does matter lol.-

You're going to have to differentiate your Americans, no one I've ever supported said that. Alas, they don't always win.

My Americans are the ones that are overbearingly thrown to the face of the rest of the world lol, the rest just sit aside or bark aside, no matter their being the majority: the pushier ones are the ones who always move and shake.

Like tossing shit on the socialism from which even neoliberal America profits... for as long as it lasts.

And yet most people I'm going to assert would still rather live here than under the Taliban - or Putin and Communist China.

How about you? Taliban or America?

Re: Australian soldier said ...

Then why the superpower soldiers and all its allies not staying and running away in chaos in helicopters like in Vietnam.
Just look at the videos. The blame start with the top who are in charge (they spent lots of money and costs lives)

Vietnam has nothing to do with anything duhhh!

"You're going to have to differentiate your Americans", being of the well-dressed gay sort, listening to XVIIIth century French opera and studying Farsi, I wouldn't like to end up falling in the Taliban part of the USA

What about being an American who makes business with or through The Taliban Menace...

https://theintercept.com/2021/08/20/mike-waltz-afghanistan/

Imagine certain hundreds of thousands, maybe a few millions, of Americans living in a world without terror menace, be it from a Middle Eastern desert or from your nearest 'hood.

False dilemma.

People in the US are free to be assholes. No one gets beheaded for it.

So how about it, Taliban or America.

Taliban America it is then

Europe. America is nothing but a hypermarket version of Europe anyway  Europe, America; America, Europe... it's all the same

Ok, and assuming that Canada is "America" too, there is also Australia, and its little backyard New Zealand. Outside that, it is difficult to breath in Asia, Africa or the Americas if it is not in the proper container of a cultural institution.

Actually, "America" is halfway there already for the lack of proper breathing atmosphere, and the Río de la Plata area is way more European than most of America...

Re: Political Cartoons, Memes & Amusing Videos

You made me choose between two Taliban, what did you expect :rotflmao:

That you would dodge and weave and play semantic games to avoid the point.

"Semantic games": a fancy expression for "speaking"... used, for example, "to avoid the point" of the discussion one started with the false assurance of going to win it... like the average American administration entering a war.

Wait, you were asking me to choose a place in which to be trapped, not to side with, were you.

Still at it.

Re: Political Cartoons, Memes & Amusing Videos

Still at it.

At what. And who at what.

If you asked me, Imperial Constantinople or Papal Rome, I would always choose the more enlightened and lesser Taliban, but was your point "freedom vs oppression" or "bigger vs lesser oppression"... Are you asking me about unrestrained, boldface dictatorship, or looser dictatorship under the mask of freedom: obviously, I would always choose whatever little remains of "freedom".

In any case, if I were living with a goat and a gun in the mountains of Afghanistan, I would be [STRIKE]living[/STRIKE] surviving like the ideal American, only in a country ruled by the Taliban: that is not "playing semantic games", that is called "NOT avoiding the point".

The point is that there comes a point where one goes beyond valid criticism and off into histrionic ridiculousness.

"Histrionic ridiculousness": what a perfect expression to describe the crisis at hand surrounding Afghanistan, from the dashing start of the war, to the chaotic evacuation after the proud withdrawal of troops.

Says the man who just claimed he's not avoiding the point. Neither you nor telstra are the crisis surrounding anything.

:corn:

You are avoiding the point that the true problem with the Western intervention in Afghanistan was its being pointless: like the Western intervention in Vietnam first by France, then by the US... or any other during the past decades.

The only war the American are proud to have won, WWII, they won on a coalition with natural allies and allied enemies (Stalin regime)... the war they did win was the American-Japanese part of WWII, which was America's war: the USA would have left Europe to the nazis like they left Korea or Vietnam, had they not found the support of the "original Americans in Europe", that they obviously lacked everywhere else.

Actually, the war they did win in Afghanistan was the war of the USSR there: that's the only way to win a war in Afghanistan.
