Vintage Wines

I must have been one of them in a former life...

In these hot summer days I like to enjoy a glas of fresh Rosé - my favourite is the former Jolie-Pitt owned...

Always love to see what is being served...

I will search for these at the LCBO.

Late afternoon and I am enjoying a Shiraz from Australia that has no heritage or real provenance or claim on the palette.

But it is actually Ok. Screw top and all.

It was a 'host gift', so don't hate me,

Can't say I know much or care that much about wine, except that I associate wines with place, and I'll often buy a bottle or order a glass because of the memories it evokes:

Grillo, Nero d'Avola = Sicily

Falanghina = Naples and Capri

Frascati = Rome

Chianti = Florence

Vermentino = Liguria

Garganega and Prosecco = Venice

Provence = Rosé

I also favor a Sbagliato, which is a Negroni made with Prosecco rather than gin. At one time I thought the Americano (seltzer rather than gin) was descended from the Negroni, but I've more recently read that the Americano came first. I have to be careful when ordering an Americano, because there's a 50/50 chance the waiter will think I want a cup of coffee.

(I also once thought that Vitello alla Milanese came from Wienerschnitzel, the Austrians having brought it during the time they ruled Milan, but it turns out it was the other way around.)

I'm going to be honest, I don't look at the year I just crank that puppy open and deepthroat the bottle til it's empty. Maybe next time I'll take a gander. !oops!

A legend... had it once in a tasting - incredible wine - a bottle now estimated 8000$

Well done.

I love pulling bottles and giving them to charity auctions....weeping for them like I was giving away a tasty child to raise money for good causes.

You have just given me an idea for a contribution to a Cancer fundraiser this month.
