True that. Some of my favourites are modest wines.
But it is never about the alcohol content. I could get drunker quicker and cheaper on Vodka.
And this evening I am enjoying an Italian Pinot Grigio of no particular note but available to us at less than $20 per bottle.True that.

But I also have some really fine Tuscans and Whites set aside for our Italian dinner for Neghbours in a few weeks!
When I came here earlier, I got an Alert/notice that someone had posted in a wine thread here. I don't think I ever posted in that thread, but I had posted in a thread that got merged into that thread last week, which is, I presume, why I got the Alert. I looked at the posting, and once again was reminded of one reason I avoid that thread: I don't have the resources for or background with $$$$$ wines. Once again, I mourn the newer thread, which I had hoped would bring up some conversation about wines that might actually be viable for those of us whose means don't permit $$$$ wines.
Whatever. And conversations about $20-ish wines that are of "no particular note" and conversations about "really fine" wines are why I made the comment I made in the "what are you doing" thread:
Drinking "plonk" is drinking wine. It may not be wine you approve of, but it's still wine. There is drinking plonk and then there is drinking wine.
