  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

Walmart being sued over bath time photos

This is kinda insane ..
My grandmother still has "bathtime" pictures from me on the wall.
Thank the god that the judge was sane.

Do you have any current "bathtime" photos Corny that need to be 'developed'.

I know my next-door neighbor has photos of their children naked in the tub when theyre young. There are actually quite good.

This reminds me of a joke though...

What's the difference between art and pornography? A government grant.

I have always thought - even when I was a kid - that naked baby pictures are creepy.
That's because your baby pictures have you sitting in a thimble.

( I kid ! )

Seriously, WTF was that Wal-mart worker thinking ? Maybe it was her first day, maybe she was projecting feelings from some childhood trauma that happened to her... who knows.

Either way, it's amazing to me that it went that far. The parents were put in a national registry ? The Mom was suspended from her work for a year ? That's insane.

It IS some sort of mass paranoia that has gripped us all. Common sense seems to be a distant memory in a LOT of areas these days. :(

What a sad story. I can believe it got to the point where the kids were separated from their parents. It takes a real pervert to look at innocent pictures like that and think they are provocative or "child erotica," as stated in the news story. A normal, non-perverted person would see them as innocent, not sexual. How far can this sort of perverted paranoia go? I feel like it could get to the point where breast feeding a baby, or bathing a baby, or changing a baby's diaper is going to be considered sexual abuse.

I was just reading about this...yeah, now the kids really are traumatized. And their lives will be that much worse off because the fambly is now $75k in debt...there goes college!! I sincerely hope this family is able to see the living fuck out of Wally World.

I work in a photo lab as well, and we get naked bathtub playtime pictures all the time. I would never think bathtime pictures were child porn, I mean come on. That worker must seriously have been stupid to think that hose pictures were in any way pornographic. We are trained to know what pornography is and is not. Granted I don't work at Wal Mart, so I don't know if they're trained or not (probably not. I'm just saying.) I feel really sorry for that family. I hope they sue the shit out of that store.

For the record, we're not talking about baby bath pictures.. we're talking about naked pictures of a 5 year-old. That's gone past "baby's first bath" pictures and is now in the "inappropriate and creepy" territory.

Those parents are freaks. How old were they going to be photographing their kids naked? Were they going to stop when they were.. what... 14 and sprouted pubes?

Age five to fourteen is a bit of a leap, don't you think?

I mean, I don't know, when you have more than one kid and they're all having a bath and playing together or whatever... I know there are pictures of me and my sister taking a bath together when we were young, and she's four years older than me. I'm not sure about age or anything, but she was probably six at the time. My parents may be weirdos, but they aren't that kind of weirdo.

I think its creepy when a Commercial shows a baby butt on tv talk about creepy i don't want to see a baby bare butt on tv

Well, we'll see.

Taking pictures of naked children is child porn, whether you look at it like that or not.

A 5 year-old isn't a baby.. they're children and their private moments shouldn't be hauled out for relatives to see.

That's just fucked up.

So does this mean all diaper commercials are considered child pornography, too?

I have to agree with pretty much everyone else; going back in my 'baby book' and family photo album, there's a few photos of my brother and myself either bathing or running around the house naked as a jaybird.

It's just one of those things that generally happens...I suppose things would be worse if it were two same-sex parents with their adopted children (you can argue against that if you'd like) but I think it's one of those things that generally happens during childhood and parenthood.

Could I ask, Jasun, if you regard nude beaches where whole families might let it all hang out and where nothing sexual is going on as "fucked up"?

If no, is this really any different? I mean, it's really no big deal.

Part of me is telling myself "this guy works in the industry; he knows what porn looks like and if he says it it's porn it probably is" but the other part says you're wrong on this one.

It is messed up just how weird some people get about nudity. Its even more sad that this happens all of the time, but hardly gets talked about.

As for whoever said naked pictures of kids is porn; they should look up the law. They are wrong.

Where Robert Mapplethorpe’s work is considered border line porn and not allowed. Sally Mann’s work can be seen throughout the world.

Back in May I asked a question on the board. It in part had to do with this. Here is a link for those interested.

BEING naked isn't what I'm talking about. I'm naked right now. Mind you... I'm in bed drinking my coffee.

Publishing pictures of your naked kids.. that's what I'm talking about.

I mean.. if the whole family can get naked... why weren't the parents naked in the pictures too? Why just the kids?

When I was little kid back in the mists of time, I can remember there was a school of thought out there that suggested there was nothing wrong with family members being naked in the privacy of their own home. That there was nothing wrong with little kids seeing Mom and Dad naked, and to suggest otherwise would imply that the body was somehow 'dirty' and that would lead to the kids growing up with all kinds of hang-ups and insecurities about themselves.

Lord knows my family didn't believe in that, but it's interesting to me to see how things have done a 180 in terms of what's acceptable and what's not.

I suppose you could argue that nudity and sexual situations are two different things, but frankly I'm very glad I never saw my parents in the buff.

I never understood the whole naked baby picture thing.I think babies with their clothes on are just as adorable. And the clothes will catch whatever might leak out of them as well.

Actually,I don't think babies are that adorable.I like puppies better.

And puppies are always naked!

Damn! We got a pair of freaks into bestiality here! :p

I know! That's so 90s. I think some stores even have it where you can take your digital camera in the store, set it up and print/develop your pics yourself right there in the store.

That only works for those of us who have embraced the advances in technology. For those who either refuse to upgrade to digital (or maybe can't afford to) there is still film that needs to be developed.
